Lord's Cricket Ground will host the ICC World Test Championship Final from June 11 to June 15, with a reserve day scheduled for June 16.
The top two teams in the standings will play an Ultimate Test at Lord's Cricket Ground from June 11 to June 15, 2025, according to an announcement made by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
After two years of fierce rivalry in the ICC World Test Championship, which saw 69 Test matches spread across 27 series to determine the finalists, this Ultimate Test is the result.
According to the percentage points used to decide qualifying, India is presently leading the Test standings, closely followed by Australia in second position. South Africa, England, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are grouped together in the middle of the table, with New Zealand in third place.
The ICC World Test Championship's third winner will be determined by the match at Lord's. Australia grabbed the Test Mace in 2023 after New Zealand won the first championship in 2021.
The Ultimate Test is a fixture on the cricket calendar that fans shouldn't miss since it celebrates the sport's legacy and history while showcasing the drama of the game in its purest form.
"We are happy to announce the dates for the 2025 edition of the ICC World Test Championship Final, which has swiftly grown to be one of the most anticipated events in the cricketing calendar," ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice stated. It's evidence of Test cricket's lasting allure, which has captured the attention of fans worldwide. Since there will be a great demand for tickets, I would advise fans to express their interest as soon as possible to guarantee they may attend the Ultimate Test the following year."
"Winning the World Test Championship was, and still is, a big goal for this team," stated Pat Cummins, the captain of the 2023 ICC World Test Championship winning side. It is the result of perseverance and diligence over the course of the two-year cycle for all teams.
"There is still a lot of cricket to be played between now and then, so hopefully we will be there again, and the fans can watch us defend the title."
"We're delighted to be working with the ICC to host the World Test Championship Final for the first time," stated Guy Lavender, Chief Executive & Secretary of the MCC. Test match days at Lord's are unique, and it will be an unforgettable cricketing experience to see the two top men's teams in the world competing at the Home of Cricket.
