Cricket Comes Alive Across Australia: 2025-26 International Schedule Promises a Blockbuster Season
Cricket fans in Australia are in for a feast as the Australia cricket schedule 2025-26 has officially been released, setting the stage for what could be one of the most thrilling international seasons in recent memory. Spanning eight months, from August 2025 to March 2026, the calendar delivers action-packed fixtures across all state and territory capitals something that hasn’t happened in 17 years.
From the return of international cricket to Darwin to a historic Women’s Test at the WACA, the upcoming season is more than just matches it's a celebration of cricket’s reach across Australia. The showpiece of the summer will be the Ashes 2025-26 fixtures, while the men’s and women’s Indian teams will also light up stadiums with high-profile white-ball and multi-format series.
Ashes 2025-26 Fixtures: A New Twist to a Classic Rivalry
Few rivalries in world sport match the history and intensity of the Ashes, and the Ashes 2025-26 fixtures bring some fresh sparkle to the historic series. For the first time, a Day-Night Ashes Test will be played at the Gabba, offering Brisbane fans an opportunity to watch cricket under lights in what’s bound to be a pulsating contest. Another first sees Adelaide Oval host a Christmas Test an innovation that blends festive cheer with elite cricket drama.
The series kicks off in Perth on November 21 and will move through Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne (Boxing Day Test), and Sydney (New Year’s Pink Test). Australia will aim to retain the urn after their dominance in recent years, but Ben Stokes’ England will arrive with a score to settle and belief in their bold, attacking style.
India vs Australia 2025: Rivalry Renewed in White-Ball Showdowns
Beyond the Ashes, the India vs Australia 2025 series is a headline-grabber in its own right. The men’s teams will battle it out in both ODIs and T20Is, with India set to play their first-ever match on the Gold Coast a major moment for cricket in Queensland’s surf capital. The ODI leg opens in Perth on October 19, followed by clashes in Adelaide and Sydney.
Then comes the historic first-ever five-match T20I series between these global cricket powerhouses. The series will light up venues such as Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Gold Coast, and Brisbane. With both teams likely to test depth ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup, the match-ups promise high-octane cricket and elite-level performances.
Women’s Cricket Takes Centre Stage
Momentum continues to build in the women’s game, and Australia’s cricket schedule 2025-26 reflects this growth. India’s women’s team returns for a full multi-format series that includes three T20Is, three ODIs, and a historic four-day Day-Night Test at the WACA Ground in Perth. This will be the first Test match for women at the redeveloped WACA and the first Day-Night Test played by Australian women on home soil.
The T20I leg will take place in Sydney, Canberra, and Adelaide in mid-February, with the ODIs following in Brisbane, Hobart, and Melbourne. The series is expected to continue the competitive narrative that developed during the recent Women’s Ashes, with both teams fielding world-class talent.
Cricket Returns to the North: A Tropical Start
For the first time since 2008, international cricket returns to the Northern Territory, with Darwin set to host T20Is between Australia and South Africa in August. These matches signal the start of the season and will be followed by ODIs in Cairns and Mackay, injecting fresh energy into Australia’s northern cities.
This Northern Australia cricket series not only broadens the geographical scope of the season but also provides key preparation for Australia’s men following their World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord’s earlier in the year. The northern venues will bring colour, local flavour, and likely sell-out crowds as cricket once again expands its footprint.
Broadcaster Coverage and Ticket Access
Cricket fans can follow every ball of this historic season through a wide array of broadcast platforms. Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Seven and 7plus will cover the major series including the Ashes and India tours. Fans can also listen live via ABC, Triple M, and SEN.
Tickets will be available via pre-sale on June 3, 2025, for registered fans, with general sales beginning on June 13. Given the widespread venue inclusion, demand is expected to be strong especially for major Tests and T20Is against India.
Todd Greenberg on a Landmark Cricket Calendar
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg expressed his enthusiasm for the ambitious schedule, calling it a season for all Australians.
“We’re excited to bring cricket to every state and territory capital city for the first time in nearly two decades. Whether you’re in Darwin, Hobart or Perth, this summer there’s a world-class game near you. The Ashes, India’s men’s and women’s tours, and the return to our northern regions make this a truly national celebration of cricket,” said Greenberg.
He also highlighted the role of government, venue, and broadcast partners in making the season possible, noting that the records set during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series last year in terms of viewership and digital engagement set a high bar that this season is ready to exceed.
A Summer to Remember
With 14 venues across 11 cities hosting everything from Day-Night Ashes Tests to tropical T20Is, the Australia cricket schedule 2025-26 offers something for every fan. Whether it's the high stakes of the Ashes, the spectacle of India vs Australia 2025, or the rising excitement of the women’s game, this is a season that promises emotion, excellence, and unforgettable cricket memories.
