Cricket Australia have named their 15 men squad for the ICC T20 World Cup which is held in October later this year. Aaron Finch led the defending champions once again and will look to conquer the title for a second consecutive time, this time in their home ground. The same squad will play a 3 match T20I series against India in September. David Warner will miss the India series as part of schedule management and Cameron Green will replace him.
The most highlighted point is the inclusion of the hard-hitting Singapore- born Tim David into the side who has got his Australian call up. He has been a T20 sensation playing leagues around the globe. He has represented Singapore 14 times in T20I’s. Adam Zampa returns to the squad who was out due to the birth of his child. Pat Cummins will come back to the squad post his rehabilitation period. Mitchell Swepson misses out from the squad. He was part of the title winning squad last year.
Tim David to represent Australia
Tim David was born in Singapore for a Australian parents, but he was grewed up in Australia (Western Australia). At the age of 2, He along with his parents moved back to Australia. So, he have the citizenship of both Singapore and Australia. In 2018-19, we got Western Australia State contract. He decided to put himself into white-ball cricket by representing Singapore in T20 World Cup qualifiers. He was also named in BBL squad for Perth scorchers and get limited opportunity to make in XI.
His rise started in 2020-21, after he was drafted to Hobart Hurricanes. He played all 14 matches and played some crucial knock to showcase his power-hitting skills. It was admired by Lahore Qalandars and picked him for the second half of PSL. Followed by that Royal Challengers Bangalore named him as their replacement player for Finn Allen. He continued to perform, and contracts headed his way: for Surrey, Southern Brave, St Lucia Kings and Multan Sultan. Finally, Mumbai Indians bougt him in 2022 IPL Mega-Auction for INR 8.25 crore.
