New Delhi, August 31, 2024: In the ongoing Adani Delhi Premier League T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, South Delhi Superstarz defeated North Delhi Strikers by 112 runs on Saturday thanks an innings of record-breaking play from captain Ayush Badoni and opener Priyansh Arya.

In the allotted 20 overs, South Delhi Superstarz held North Delhi Strikers to 196/8 after setting a massive target of 309 runs. This allowed them to win the match handily and guarantee their spot in the tournament's semi-finals.

Pranshu Vijayran, captain of the North Delhi Strikers, led the team in solitary combat and amassed 62 from 32 balls, with eight fours and four sixes. In addition, Vaibhav Rawal, who entered as an impact player, scored 32 runs from 14 balls, while Yajas Sharma scored 32 (18). Conversely, Raghav Singh proved to be the best bowler for the South Delhi Superstarz, taking three wickets in three overs while conceding only 34 runs.

Priyansh Arya and Ayush Badoni's unrelenting attack earlier in the match not only broke several records but also showed that they could control the game under duress. Their innings not only made their team's target look intimidating, but it also left their names in the record books, turning the game into a thrilling display of aggressive T20 cricket.

After opting to bat first, South Delhi Superstarz had an early obstacle when they lost opener Sarthak Ray. Ray was removed by Siddhartha Solanki in the third over, having amassed 11 runs with two sixes and a four. Ray misplayed his draw shot attempt, allowing Yash Dabas, who was positioned at deep midwicket, to easily grab the ball. Despite this early loss, the Superstarz went on to stage an incredible comeback.

After a quick recovery, the team scored 100 runs in just 8 overs thanks to the brilliant batting of Priyansh Arya and team leader Ayush Badoni. Arya destroyed the opposition's bowling assault with a brilliant show of aggressive batting, hitting six straight sixes in Manan Bhardwaj's 12th over. He solidified his status as a match-winner by reaching his second century of the competition in just 40 balls.

Ayush Badoni, meantime, was playing at an incredible level, matching Arya's aggression with an equally powerful innings. He broke the tournament record for fastest ton when he raced to a century in just 39 balls. Continuing his merciless batting, Badoni hit four straight sixes in the 19th over, culminating with an incredible 165 runs off just 55 balls at a remarkable strike rate of 300. His innings featured eight fours and a whopping nineteen sixes, creating a new mark for the most sixes scored by a single player in a Twenty20 contest. The third-highest individual score in T20 cricket history is Badoni's incredible 165.

Priyansh Arya, who had amassed a dominant 120 runs off 50 balls at a strike rate of 240, including 10 fours and 10 sixes, was removed from the game shortly after Badoni was dismissed. In just 20 overs, South Delhi Superstarz amassed a massive total of 308/5 thanks to their incredible partnership. This is currently the second-highest team total in T20 history and the only other time more than 300 runs have been scored in a T20 innings.
