South Australia has been confirmed as the host of the 2024-25 Sheffield Shield final, with Cricket Australia announcing Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide as the venue for the highly anticipated five-day match. The final is set to begin on Wednesday, March 26, and will conclude on March 30.

The decision to host the final at Karen Rolton Oval instead of Adelaide Oval has sparked disappointment, with Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg expressing concerns over the venue allocation.

“We are disappointed South Australia has been prevented from hosting the Sheffield Shield final at Adelaide Oval. The Sheffield Shield final is a significant event for Australian cricket, and we believe Adelaide Oval would have been the most appropriate venue.”

Despite the setback, Greenberg praised the efforts of South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas and the South Australia Cricket Association (SACA) for their advocacy in attempting to secure Adelaide Oval as the venue. Greenberg added:

“I would like to thank Premier Malinauskas for his advocacy in this matter and his passionate support of cricket. The South Australia Cricket Association made an extremely compelling case to host the final at Adelaide Oval.”
