Ahead of the Scotland Women's team's maiden appearance at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, Cricket Scotland is happy to announce a sponsorship deal with Heriot-Watt University.

The Heriot-Watt University emblem will be prominently displayed on Scotland's ICC Women's T20 World Cup shirt, which was unveiled by team members at a photo session in Dubai today. This relationship is a first for the Scotland Women's national team.

For their first campaign on the international scene, Scotland's women have opted to don the well-liked and eye-catching pink T20 World Cup kit, which the country's men wore earlier this year. During Scotland's first official T20 World Cup warm-up match against Pakistan on Saturday, September 28, the new kit will be worn for the first time.

As they prepare for the tournament, which starts on October 3, members of the Scotland team will be hosted at a reception and panel discussion event this evening on the Heriot-Watt University campus in Dubai. Group B sees Scotland play England, Bangladesh, South Africa, and the West Indies. The top two teams in the group advance to the semifinals.

The vice-chancellor and principal of Heriot-Watt University, Professor Richard A. Williams, stated:

We have long supported equal opportunities for everybody, creating an atmosphere where women are empowered to break down barriers and succeed. We were among the first universities in Scotland to accept women, having done so twenty years before legislation compelled them to do so. In keeping with this ethos, we are honored to be the official sponsor of the Scotland women's national cricket team for their maiden appearance in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in 2024.

This partnership with Cricket Scotland is in line with Heriot-Watt University's purpose to empower and inspire our communities in Scotland, Dubai, and beyond. We work hard to challenge norms and promote good change. As the squad competes in the UAE, we are excited to support them.

Provost and vice principal of Heriot-Watt University Dubai, Professor Dame Heather McGregor, stated:

"This collaboration demonstrates our common dedication to advancing excellence and assisting women in realizing their goals.

"We are excited to have the Scotland women's national cricket team visit our campus in Dubai. "since we celebrate this historic occasion for Scottish women's cricket on the global stage, it is particularly appropriate to collaborate with such a well-known Scottish institution, since Cricket Scotland's new four-year strategy has the expansion of Women’s and Girls’ cricket at its heart.”

Cricket Scotland's Commercial Manager, Claire Drummond, stated:

"Cricket Scotland is excited about this partnership because we share the university's values of inspiring, collaborating, and enforcing an equality culture. What better way to demonstrate these values than by making our first-ever appearance at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup?"

"With our team gearing up to take on the finest in the world in the UAE, the special connection of Heriot-Watt University's Dubai campus makes sense. The players will proudly don the new T20 World Cup kit as they represent Heriot-Watt University and Scotland in front of millions of people worldwide.
