CSK Won by 6 Wickets in the IPL 2024 Opener | Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru | IPL 2024 Match#1

In the IPL 2024 opening on Friday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai,

After winning the toss, Faf du Plessis chose to bat first. At one point, the RCB were struggling at 78 for 5, but the two turned things around with significant runs. Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat's cameos helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru to set a target of 173/6. For the Chennai Super Kings, Mustafizur Rahman was the most effective bowler, claiming four wickets.

When chasing 174 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Ruturaj Gaikwad and his new opening partner Rachin Ravindra got the home team off to a fast start. Gaikwad was eventually defeated on 15 off as many by Yash Dayal, who replaced Dinesh Karthik as an Impact Player. But there was no relief for RCB, as Ajinkya Rahane appeared to have carried over from the previous season, and Ravindra kept up his good work. For the loss of just one wicket, CSK amassed 62 runs during the powerplay. After Rahane was eventually removed for 27 off 19 after a breathtaking catch by Glenn Maxwell, Ravindra eventually fell for 37 off 15 balls.

Both Ajinkya Rahane 27 and Daryl Mitchell, 22 performed admirably as well. However, Shivam Dube 34* and Ravindra Jadeja 25* performances, which helped the defending champions defeat RCB by six wickets, were the cherry on top.

Karn Sharma and Yash Dayal each took one wicket, but Cameron Green took two for the RCB.

Prior to this, Mustafizur Rahman had a fantastic day for CSK with the ball, taking four wickets to disrupt RCB's top order. Before CSK retaliated and halted their progress, RCB was dominating the game and had reached 41/0 in 4.3 overs. After removing Faf du Plessis, Mustafizur went on the rampage, dismissing Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar for a duck each. Before the fizz got to him too, Virat Kohli had advanced to 21 off 20, and he added a fourth in the shape of Cameron Green to leave RCB reeling at 78/5.
