DC vs KKR Highlights | IPL 2025 – KKR Win by 14 Runs

Kolkata Knight Riders Outclass Delhi Capitals in Tight 14-Run Thriller

Kolkata Knight Riders kept their playoff hopes alive with a spirited 14-run win over Delhi Capitals in Match 48 of IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Sunil Narine’s all-round brilliance quickfire 27 and economical 3/29 earned him Player of the Match. Despite a valiant 75 from KL Rahul and a late charge from Vipraj Nigam, Delhi fell short in a 205-run chase. KKR’s win takes them closer to mid-table safety, while DC’s inconsistency at home continues to be their Achilles’ heel.

Scorecard

KKR: 204/9 (20 overs) | Venkatesh Iyer 75, Raghuvanshi 44; Vipraj Nigam 3/41, Starc 3/30
DC: 190/9 (20 overs) | KL Rahul 75, Du Plessis 62; Narine 3/29, Varun 2/39
Result: Kolkata Knight Riders won by 14 runs

Sunil Narine Shines as KKR Dominate in Delhi

Sunil Narine turned back the clock with a stellar all-round show, first contributing a breezy 27 off 16 to push KKR past 200, then returning figures of 3 for 29 to throttle DC’s middle order. His strikes of Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, and the crucial dismissal of Du Plessis proved pivotal in derailing Delhi’s chase. The seasoned campaigner showed why he remains KKR’s most dependable T20 asset.

Iyer and Raghuvanshi Set the Foundation

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Kolkata Knight Riders posted a commanding 204 for 9. Venkatesh Iyer’s 50-ball 75 was the standout innings, supported well by youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi who scored an enterprising 44. Together they stitched a 61-run stand in the middle overs which laid the platform for a late onslaught. Despite losing wickets in a cluster towards the end including a stunning last over from Starc KKR had enough on the board.

Rahul’s Knock Keeps Delhi in the Hunt

KL Rahul once again stood tall for Delhi Capitals, scoring a classy 75 off 53 balls. With Faf du Plessis (62 off 45) giving him company, the chase seemed on track at 136/3. But just as Delhi looked set, Narine dismissed both Axar and Stubbs in quick succession, triggering a collapse. Rahul was also involved in a mix-up that led to his run-out turning the tide firmly in KKR’s favour.

Vipraj’s Late Blitz Not Enough

Youngster Vipraj Nigam gave the home crowd some hope with a brutal 38 off 19 deliveries. His striking against Varun Chakaravarthy momentarily swung momentum back towards DC. But once he fell to Russell in the penultimate over, Delhi’s chances fizzled out. Mitchell Starc’s duck further hurt their pursuit, as they closed 14 runs short of the target.

Starc, Nigam Impress with the Ball

With the ball, Mitchell Starc (3/30) and Vipraj Nigam (3/41) were standout performers for Delhi. Starc’s triple strike in the death overs restricted KKR from going beyond 210. Nigam continued to impress in his debut season, picking key wickets of Narine, Iyer, and Rinku Singh.

What This Means

The result pushes KKR to a more comfortable position on the table as they target the 4th playoff spot. For DC, this was a missed opportunity at home. With a tough run-in remaining, they’ll need to regroup quickly and rediscover the form that saw them start the season strong.
