DCW Final | Delhi Capitals Gear Up for WPL 2025 Final, Aim for First Title | WPL Final 2025

After a dominant campaign in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) are on the brink of history as they prepare for their third consecutive final. Topping the league table with a stellar performance throughout the season, DC are determined to lift the coveted trophy for the first time when they take the field in Mumbai on March 15.

Vice-captain Jemimah Rodrigues has expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, highlighting the importance of a well-timed break before the summit clash. Speaking at a virtual press conference, Rodrigues emphasized that the gap between the league stage and the final has allowed the squad to reset, focus, and bond as a unit.

Break Before Final a Blessing for DC

Rodrigues believes that the short interval leading up to the final has worked in their favor, helping the team recharge after an intense league phase.

"This gap has actually worked in our favor. We've had valuable team bonding sessions, and given the hectic schedule of this WPL with back-to-back matches and travel, this break has come at the right time. We've also had quality practice sessions on the Mumbai pitches to get used to the conditions. Sometimes, a short break helps us reset and be fully ready for the big day," she said.

Having played in two WPL finals before, DC will be eager to turn the tide this time and avoid a repeat of their previous heartbreaks. Rodrigues, however, remains unfazed by past disappointments, insisting that every match is a fresh opportunity.

“We Love Representing DC and We’ll Give It Our All”

Despite finishing runners-up in the last two editions, DC are not dwelling on past setbacks. Rodrigues reiterated the team’s unwavering belief and excitement ahead of the final.

"Yes, we all know what happened in the last two seasons, but that’s cricket. Anything can change in one game, in one night. The entire team is positive and excited no one's thinking about the past. Our focus is to go out there, enjoy the game, and play our best cricket. We love representing DC, we love this team, and we’re going to give it our all on the finals night," Rodrigues affirmed.

Meg Lanning’s Influence and Leadership Impact

The presence of Meg Lanning, one of the most successful captains in women’s cricket, has been a guiding force for Delhi Capitals. Rodrigues, as vice-captain, has learned invaluable leadership lessons from the Australian stalwart.

"The thing I love about Meg is that she is calm yet aggressive at the same time—a crucial quality for any leader. Last year, in a game that went down to the wire, I asked her if she was nervous. What she told me has stuck with me ever since. She said, ‘As a captain, my job is to set the tone for the team and stay calm because I know everyone is looking at me. If I’m calm, the team is calm.’ That made so much sense to me."

Lanning’s experience and composure under pressure have been instrumental in DC’s success, and her leadership will once again be a crucial factor in the upcoming final.

Final Opponent Yet to be Decided

Delhi Capitals’ opponent for the final will be determined after the Eliminator match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants. Both teams have been formidable throughout the tournament, and the winner will face DC in the title clash at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.

Regardless of who they face, DC are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations. With a balanced squad, key match-winners, and a well-calibrated strategy, they have their sights firmly set on the WPL 2025 trophy.

A Defining Moment for Delhi Capitals

For a franchise that has been knocking on the door of glory for three seasons, the 2025 final represents a defining moment. Having dominated the league stage and showcased their depth across departments, Delhi Capitals are undoubtedly one of the strongest contenders for the title.

With Rodrigues, Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, and Shafali Verma leading from the front, DC have all the firepower needed to create history and lift their first-ever WPL trophy.

As the anticipation builds for the grand finale, fans will be eager to see if Delhi Capitals can finally break the jinx and script a historic win.
