The Duleep Trophy 2024 is set to commence on September 5 and will run until September 22, marking the start of India's domestic cricket season. The tournament features four teams: India A, India B, India C and India D. 

Schedule and Venues

- A total of six four-day matches will be played. The venues include the Rural Development Trust Stadium and the ACA ADCA Ground in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The tournament opener between India A and India B will be hosted at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Teams and Key Players

- India A will be captained by Shubman Gill and includes players like Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav.

- India B is led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar among the key players.

- India C has Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain, supported by Sai Sudharsan and Rajat Patidar.

- India D is captained by Shreyas Iyer, featuring players like Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson, and Axar Patel.

Expectations:

This year's Duleep Trophy is highly anticipated due to the participation of several centrally contracted players, which is a push by the BCCI to ensure these players remain involved in domestic cricket. Notably, big names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja are exempted from this edition due to their international commitments. The tournament is expected to be a proving ground for several players aiming to solidify or regain their spots in the national team.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to a groin injury sustained during the ongoing All-India Buchi Babu Tournament. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring his recovery.

In his place, the Men’s Selection Committee has named Sanju Samson for the India D squad.

Batter Suryakumar Yadav will also miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy after injuring his right thumb while fielding in the All-India Buchi Babu Tournament. His condition is being assessed by the BCCI Medical Team, and his availability for the second round will be determined after a further evaluation next week.

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who is nearing the end of his rehab following surgery on his left quadriceps tendon, will also miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been cleared to play and will be available for selection.
