In a significant development ahead of IPL 2025, Dwayne Bravo has been appointed as the mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This move marks the end of Bravo's long-standing association with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he served as the bowling coach in recent seasons. Bravo’s appointment came shortly after he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on September 27, 2024.
Bravo, the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket, has had an illustrious career both as a player and a coach. While he is best known in the IPL for his contributions to CSK and Mumbai Indians, he shares a deep connection with the Knight Riders franchise through his long tenure with the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He led TKR to multiple CPL titles, further cementing his legacy in the franchise.
KKR CEO Venky Mysore expressed his enthusiasm about Bravo's appointment, highlighting the veteran cricketer’s extensive experience and his winning mindset as invaluable assets. Bravo will not only mentor KKR in the IPL but will also work with the Knight Riders’ other franchises in leagues such as the ILT20, Major League Cricket (MLC), and CPL, continuing his association with the global Knight Riders family.
Bravo himself shared his excitement about transitioning from playing to mentoring, stating that the KKR environment, known for its professionalism and family-like atmosphere, is the perfect platform for his newrole.
