East Delhi Riders defeated South Delhi Superstarz by seven wickets in the Delhi Premier League T20.
New Delhi, August 22, 2024: On Thursday in the ongoing Adani Delhi Premier League T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, East Delhi Riders easily defeated South Delhi Superstarz by 7 wickets.
East Delhi Riders, who were chasing 192, got off to a quick start thanks to openers Anuj Rawat and Sujal Singh, who both took on the opposition's bowlers.
East Delhi Riders ended the powerplay with 86/0 as both openers found the boundaries with ease. Anuj Rawat was bowled out by Ayush Badoni for 34 runs, capping up an incredible effort. Sujal, on the other hand, kept the scoreboard running. Captain Himmat Singh gave him good support until Ayush removed him. Sujal needed just 19 balls to achieve 50. Digvesh Tripathi took his wicket to end his innings. Three sixes and seven boundaries were part of his innings.
After that, it was up to Hardik Sharma and Samarth Seth to find the target. Together, the two scored 50 runs in 34 balls. Samarth chipped in with 24 runs from 20 balls, and Hardik added 38 from 24 balls. With seven wickets down and 13 balls remaining, the East Delhi Riders were able to successfully chase down the mark.
East Delhi Riders won the toss and chose to bowl first earlier in the innings. Sarthak Ray and Priyansh Arya began the innings for the South Delhi Superstarz. Simarjeet Singh gave East Delhi Riders the much-needed start by dismissing Sarthak for just two runs. Arriving at the crease next was Captain Ayush Badoni. Between him and Priyansh, they combined for 67 runs off of 36 deliveries.
With two boundaries and three sixes in his rapid 32 from 20 balls, Ayush Badoni helped South Delhi Superstarz reach 60/1 at the end of the powerplay. Priyansh Arya provided strong support for Ayush by making several excellent shots to keep the scoreboard moving.
With a superb catch at the boundary by Pranav Pant, Mayank Rawat dismissed the Ayush for 32 to give East Delhi Riders a chance to win again. South Delhi Superstarz were 88/2 at the interval. Priyansh hit 50 from 30 balls while playing at an incredible level. Three sixes and five boundaries were part of his innings. But not long after, Mayank Rawat sent him back to the pavilion.
With four wickets in a short period of time, East Delhi Riders tied the score and placed South Delhi Superstarz on the defensive. The South Delhi Superstarz found it difficult to maintain the scoreboard's momentum after 108/3. Dhruv Singh and Sumit Mathur added significant runs towards the conclusion of the innings to raise the total to 191/7 in the 20 overs that were allowed to them.
Simarjeet Singh and Himanshu Chauhan each took one wicket, but Mayank Rawat and Harsh Tyagi were the standout bowlers for the East Delhi Riders, with two wickets apiece.
