Tejaswi Dahiya's (68 off 24) heroics in the last moments are insufficient for South Delhi Superstarz.

New Delhi, September 8, 2024: At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, East Delhi Riders created history by winning the first-ever Adani Delhi Premier League T20. Mayank Rawat's late-inning barrage of seven fours and six sixes helped East Delhi Riders reach 183/5, while Simarjeet Singh and Raunak Waghela's three-wicket hauls against South Delhi Superstarz sealed an exciting three-run win.

In the run chase, the South Delhi Superstarz made mistakes early on. They lost the dangerous pair of Priyansh Arya (6 off 2) and Ayush Badoni (7 off 5) to Bhagwan Singh and Simarjeet Singh, respectively, even though their run rate was on track. Mayank Rawat also caught and bowled impact player Kunwar Bidhuri (22 off 19) to end the powerplay at 57/3.

The next batsman out was Sumit Mathur (18 off 15), who had formed a 22-run partnership with Tejaswi Dahiya. While Mayank Gupta (1 off 8) and Dhruv Singh (1 off 2) lost easily, Dahiya was in excellent form, reaching his half century.

Raunak Waghela dismissed Vision Panchal as he blazed for a nine-ball twenty-five with three sixes and a four, leaving the South Delhi Superstarz at 109/7 after 13.5 overs.

Tejaswi Dahiya was hitting the boundary frequently, thus the South Delhi Superstarz just needed to score 26 runs in 12 balls. In the penultimate over, Dahiya struck a maximum off Simarjeet, but he was withdrawn after two balls. Digvesh Rathi (21* off 16) smashed two fours and a six in the last over, but South Delhi Superstarz was bowled out for 180/9 in 20 overs.

After opting to bat first, East Delhi Riders lost both of their openers in the powerplay: Sujal Singh (5 off 6) was taken by Kuldip Yadav, while Anuj Rawat (10 off 15) was pinged on the pads by Raghav Singh, leaving East Delhi Riders at 27/2 in 4.5 overs.

With a partnership of 24 runs, Himmat Singh (20 off 20) and Hardik Sharma (21 of 16) momentarily steadied the ship. Before the 10-over threshold, Dhruv Rathi dismissed Hardik Sharma and Raghav Singh returned to remove Himmat Singh from the game. Neither batsman was able to convert his opening position.

Elevating his game, Mayank Rawat (78* off 39) teamed up with Kavya Gupta (16 off 12) for a partnership of 47 runs in 35 balls. After Kuldip Yadav claimed his second wicket of the evening, Kavya Gupta helped East Delhi Riders to 116/5 in 15.4 overs.

Mayank Rawat led the East Delhi Riders to a 34-ball half-century by guiding them through the last overs. Assisted by Harsh Tyagi (17 off 12) at the other end, Mayank Rawat hit five sixes (6,0,6,6,6,6) against Ayush Badoni in the last over to lead East Delhi Riders to 183/5 in 20 overs.
