London: A strong bowling performance by the tourists ensured that they enjoyed a good outing on the first day in Lord's. Electing to bowl first the bowlers justified their skipper's statement given in the pre-match press conference by reducing the host for 116-6 in 32 overs before the play was called off due to interruption of rain.
The Proteas were boosted by the return of their primary bowler Rabada from injury forcing him out in previous matches. South Africa's pace was too hot to handle for the home team as the batters kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
