The announced England Women's ODI and T20 squads for their Ireland tour
The teams for England Women's ODI and IT20 tours of Ireland in January have been announced.
The team, captained by Kate Cross, will play two Twenty20 matches and three One Day Internationals in Belfast and Dublin, respectively.
Head coach Jon Lewis, who has been in charge of the England A team for the past 12 months, will be assisted by Courtney Winfield-Hill and Chris Liddle, the England Women's Performance Coach. Both coaches recently worked with the Trent Rockets and the London Spirit in the Women's Hundred.
Along with Emma Lamb, the opening batswoman, and quick bowler Lauren Filer, the ODI team will also include all-rounder Freya Kemp and wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath.
The all-around player Mady Villiers makes her first appearance in a senior England team since 2021.
Mahika Gaur, a bowler, was left out of England's home series against New Zealand and The Hundred due to a side strain injury. She was chosen for the T20 squad.
Along with South East Stars' Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Paige Scholfield, as well as Georgia Adams (Southern Vipers and T20 only) and Seren Smale (Thunder and T20 only), the trio of Central Sparks—Hannah Baker, Georgia Davis (ODI only), and Charis Pavely (T20 only)—are also named. All of these players may make their senior international debuts after representing their nation at different age groups.
Jonathan Finch, Director of England Women's Cricket, stated: "After a busy period, we are looking forward to the tour to Ireland to finish off our summer."
The team is made up of an intriguing blend of seasoned international players, players who are making their way back to the group after a break, and players who haven't yet made their debut on the global scene. This is a formidable team comprised of numerous players that have developed as a result of playing in a growing domestic league.
"Those who have been advocating for selection have the chance to face off on the global scene due to the increasing intricacy and difficulties of overseeing the year-round playing schedules for our international players.
"Playing away from home will be a considerable challenge for the Ireland Women, who recently won a huge series against Sri Lanka.
"Watching players make their debut is always a special moment, and this tour may see seven do so."
