2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup: England Women's squad
The United Arab Emirates in October 2024 will host the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, and England Women has announced their team.
Bess Heath, a wicketkeeper-batter, and Freya Kemp, an all-rounder, have been included in a T20 World Cup team for the first time, along with Danielle Gibson, a traveling reserve from the previous tournament in South Africa.
Together with fellow spinner Linsey Smith, who returned to the England T20 squad earlier this year, bowler Sophie Ecclestone, who took the most wickets in the 2023 T20 World Cup, is named.
Prior to the official ICC warm-up games, the squad will go to Abu Dhabi for a training camp that runs from September 13–24.
They then play in Group B across Sharjah and Dubai against Bangladesh, South Africa, Scotland, and the West Indies.
Lauren Filer, a fast bowler, has been called up to the squad for the Abu Dhabi training camp.
"Selection of teams and squads with this group of players has become extremely tricky and tough," stated head coach Jon Lewis. Players who were incredibly unfortunate to lose out will play a significant role in our future efforts with England Cricket.
"I think the 15 players that were chosen provide us with a really well-balanced squad in terms of youth, experience, and most importantly, the ability to succeed in the conditions that we believe we will face in the United Arab Emirates."
"World Cups are always special events to be involved in as a player, and I'm really excited by the squad we have selected to take over to the UAE," said captain Heather Knight.
"Heading the team into another World Cup is an honor. We're excited about the possibilities and challenges that lie ahead.
