Leading talent is welcomed to Betway SA20 by Graeme Smith ahead of the player auction.
Commissioner of the Betway SA20 League, Graeme Smith, is overjoyed by the outstanding talent that will be on display in Season 3 of the premier T20 competition in South Africa, which kicks off on January 9, 2025. Smith expressed his confidence in the quality squads put together for the forthcoming season and ahead of the player auction in Cape Town on October 1st, even as the teams confirmed the players they had retained and pre-signed.
"The world-class cricket played in front of sold-out crowds during the first two seasons has established Betway SA20 as one of the top franchise leagues in the world." International players like Dinesh Karthik, Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Trent Boult, Johnny Bairstow, Devon Conway, Zak Crawley, Rashid Khan, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have committed to their respective SA20 teams, demonstrating the success of the League's and the franchises' tireless efforts to provide a top-notch experience. Smith expressed gratitude to all those involved.
"An incredible season is promised with the caliber of international players joining hometown legends like Aiden, KG, and Heinrich. In addition, we are immensely proud of every single domestic player that the teams have kept, even the vast majority of rookies who have been signed to full contracts for Season 3.
At the Cape Town Auction on October 1, 2024, the franchises will select a total of 13 players at the end of the pre-signing and retention window. Apart from this, every organization has to choose its Season 3 Rookie; also, three franchises still need to reveal their wildcard before December 30.
The Betway SA20's third season will run from January 9 to February 8, 2025. The schedule will be released once it becomes available.
