GSL Revamp Completed in Record 117 Days, Ready for PAK vs NZ & ICC CT 2025
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has achieved a remarkable milestone, completing the revamp of Gaddafi Stadium Lahore (GSL) in just 117 days. This transformation has turned the iconic venue into a modern cricketing hub, setting the stage for Pakistan vs New Zealand in the tri-nation ODI series, followed by the much-anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 (ICC CT 2025).
The upgraded GSL will be unveiled with a grand opening ceremony on February 7, before hosting its first international match since the renovation on February 8. The ceremony promises an electrifying atmosphere, featuring live performances by Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig, along with a spectacular fireworks and light show. Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will be present at the event, which will be free for the public from 5:30 PM.
A Stadium Transformed: GSL Now Meets Global Standards
Under the leadership of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, GSL has undergone a complete transformation, ensuring a world-class experience for players and spectators alike. The upgrades include:
Brighter LED floodlights for enhanced visibility
Two larger score screens for an improved fan experience
Imported seating in all enclosures for ultimate comfort
Newly built hospitality boxes to host VIP guests and officials
Upgraded player and spectator facilities
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who personally supervised the project, expressed his pride in achieving this feat in such a short time.
"Our venues are now on par with international standards, and we are proud to offer cricket fans the best possible experience. The transformation of GSL in just 117 days is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team."

Naqvi acknowledged the relentless efforts of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), NESPAK, contractors, and PCB teams, who worked tirelessly to bring the stadium up to world-class standards.
"First of all, I thank the workers who made the impossible task possible. Despite criticism, our team remained committed, and Allah Ta’ala made our path easy," he added.
The revamped GSL is now fully prepared to host top-tier international matches, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to becoming a premier destination for world cricket.
GSL Set for PAK vs NZ & ICC CT 2025
With renovations complete, GSL is ready to host Pakistan vs New Zealand on February 8, followed by the ICC CT 2025 from February 19. Fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere, cutting-edge facilities, and a cricketing spectacle like never before.
