GT vs SRH Highlights | IPL 2025 | GT Beat SRH by 38 Runs

Gujarat Titans Outgun Sunrisers Hyderabad with Power-Packed Batting and Precision Bowling

In a high-scoring thriller at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs in Match 51 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. With this crucial win, GT continued their resurgence in the second half of the tournament and dealt a blow to SRH's playoff hopes.

GT Batting Blasts SRH with Brutal Top Order Assault

After being sent in to bat by SRH captain Pat Cummins, Gujarat Titans posted a daunting 224/6 on the board, with their top order delivering in spectacular fashion. Shubman Gill led from the front with a masterclass of timing and placement, smashing 76 off just 38 deliveries, including ten boundaries and two sixes. His aggressive approach laid the groundwork for a mammoth total.

Partnering Gill at the top, Sai Sudharsan played his role to perfection, launching a 48-run blitz off 23 balls. His innings featured nine crisp boundaries and two sixes and ensured that GT crossed 80 before the halfway mark. Jos Buttler then carried forward the momentum with a breezy 64 from 37 balls, mixing flair with composure.

Though the finishing lacked fireworks in the final over with three wickets falling in three balls, the damage was already done. Jaydev Unadkat picked up three late scalps but went for plenty, and SRH's bowling unit looked largely toothless despite the pitch offering some help.

SRH Top Order Falters Under Pressure

Chasing 225 was always going to be an uphill task, especially against a rejuvenated GT bowling attack. SRH were off to a mixed start. Travis Head (20) and Abhishek Sharma (74) provided a quickfire partnership, but once Head fell to a sharp catch from Rashid Khan, the innings started to wobble.

Abhishek played a lone hand, hitting six fours and four sixes in his valiant 41-ball 74, but lacked support from the other end. Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen were dismissed cheaply, while Aniket Verma and Kamindu Mendis failed to trouble the scorers. The collapse between overs 15 and 17 saw SRH slip from 139/3 to 145/6, extinguishing any realistic hopes of chasing the total down.

Pat Cummins swung his bat late for an unbeaten 19, but it was too little, too late. SRH eventually ended at 186/6 in their 20 overs, falling well short of the target.

Prasidh Krishna Shines as the Game Changer

Gujarat Titans' bowling performance was defined by pace and discipline. Player of the Match Prasidh Krishna rattled SRH's middle order with figures of 2/19 from his four overs. His wickets of Head and Klaasen broke SRH's backbone, and his ability to hit the deck hard made life difficult for the batters.

Mohammed Siraj (2/32) supported him well, striking crucial blows in the middle overs. Ishant Sharma chipped in with a tidy spell, and Gerald Coetzee held his nerve in the death overs to ensure SRH couldn’t make a late charge.

Takeaways and Tactical Wins

GT's victory was not just built on batting brilliance but also on smart bowling changes and field placements. Shubman Gill's use of Prasidh and Siraj in short bursts kept the SRH batters guessing. Rashid Khan, although wicketless, bowled a tight spell that dried up runs in the middle overs.

From the SRH camp, the absence of application in the middle order was evident once again. Despite a stellar effort from Abhishek Sharma, SRH couldn’t convert their starts into a solid chase.

Playoff Picture and What Lies Ahead

With this win, Gujarat Titans have firmed up their position in the race to the playoffs. Their strong net run rate and balanced performances give them a slight edge as the league enters its final phase. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, the road gets steeper. They will need to win their remaining matches and hope for favorable results elsewhere.
