The updated schedule for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 3–20, was released today by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ninth edition of the competition, which is expected to inspire and engage a new generation of fans worldwide, will take place in Dubai and Sharjah. The ICC Board decided at their most recent meeting, which took place on August 20, to relocate the event from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates.
The world's greatest T20 cricket players will compete for the ultimate prize in two exciting locations in the United Arab Emirates: the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Ten teams will play 23 matches over eighteen exciting days.
Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland; Group A consists of six-time champion Australia, as well as India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. There will be four group matches for each side, spread out over the two locations. The excitement of having three double-header matchdays at each location will be added.
The opening match of the tournament in Sharjah will pit Bangladesh against Scotland, and the Asia Cup winners Sri Lanka will play Pakistan next. On October 4 in Dubai, South Africa, the runners-up in 2023, will take on the West Indies in the opening match of the T20 World Cup.
The most successful side in T20 World Cup history and defending champions Australia will open the tournament against Sri Lanka on October 5 in Sharjah. Meanwhile, the eagerly awaited match between India and Pakistan will take place in Dubai on October 6.
The second-placed club from the opposing Group will play the top two teams from each Group. Semi-final 1 takes place on October 17 in Dubai, while Semi-final 2 takes place on October 18 in Sharjah. India will play in Semi-final 1 if they make it to the Semi-finals.
On October 20, the winners of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup will be announced at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Through the earlier this year in Abu Dhabi ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier, Scotland and Sri Lanka were able to advance to the tournament.
Ten practice matches between September 28 and October 1 at Dubai's Sevens Stadium and ICC Academy grounds will serve as the catalyst for excitement.
In order to guarantee the event's effective execution, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will collaborate while the BCB retains its hosting rights.
