India players Rishabh Pant Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin have all prospered in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings

Following their centuries in the opening game of their ICC World Test Championship series against Bangladesh, which was played in Chennai, batsmen Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Ravichandran Ashwin of India have all done well in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings.

After posting scores of 39 and 109, Pant has returned to the top of the rankings. Gill, on the other hand, has risen from fifth to a career-high 14th place following an undefeated 119 in the second innings, while Ravichandran Ashwin has moved up seven spots to 72nd place following his vital 113 in the first innings.

Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have risen up the rankings after their pivotal 199-run first-inning partnership laid the groundwork for a 280-run triumph.

Jadeja has climbed three spots to 37th place in the batting rankings thanks to his 86-run contribution during that partnership. Ashwin has maintained his top spot in the bowling rankings by adding one rating point following his six-wicket second innings total, and Jadeja has moved up one spot to sixth place after taking five wickets in the match.

In the all-rounder rankings, the two have also earned points. With a career-high 475 points, Jadeja has cemented his top spot, while Ashwin is still in second place despite having gained 48 points to reach 370.

Other moves for the Indian players include fast bowler Akash Deep, who moves up ten spots to 88th after taking two wickets, and opener Yashaswi Jaiswal, who makes his debut appearance in the top five after scoring a half-century in the first innings.

With scores of 20 and 82, Bangladeshi skipper Najmul Hussain Shanto has moved up 14 spots to 48th place, while seam bowler Hasan Mahmud has moved up five spots to 44th place among bowlers with his five-for in the first innings. Other players who have improved are Shakib Al Hassan (up one spot to 43rd among hitters) and Taskin Ahmed (up eight spots to 66th among bowlers).

Left-arm spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya has achieved a career-best equal eighth position in the most recent weekly update, which also takes into account his performance in the Galle Test, where Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand by 63 runs. Jayasuriya's nine-wicket haul in that match earned him the Player of the Match title.

The home team's other big gainers are Kamindu Mendis, who moved up three spots to 16th after scoring a century in his first innings, Kusal Mendis, who moved up four spots to 51st among batters, and Ramesh Mendis, who moved up to 29th among bowlers.

With their victory over New Zealand, Sri Lanka is now ranked third in the ICC World Test Championship standings in terms of percentage points. They currently make up 50% of the table, with Australia coming in second with 62.50 and India leading the way with 71.67.

Afghanistan's first batter in the ODI top 10 is Gurbaz: Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the first player from Afghanistan to crack the top 10 in the ODI batting rankings, having jumped up ten spots to eighth place. With his 194 runs in the Player of the Series against South Africa, he now has 692 rating points, which is tied with Ibrahim Zadran for the most by any batter from Afghanistan.

Temba Bavuma (up four spots to 25th in batting) and Lungi Ngidi (up 14 places to 20th in bowling) have gained for South Africa, while Azmatullah Omarzai (up 15 places to 35th in batting) and leg-spinner Rashid Khan (up eight places to third in bowling) are the other significant gainers for Afghanistan.

Other noteworthy moves include leg-spinner Adam Zampa moving up to second place and Australia's Travis Head, who blasted an undefeated 154 against England in Nottingham, returning to the top 10.
