Lucknow and Gujarat are the new additions to the IPL squad, where only eight teams played last year. The match between the two teams started with great anticipation and ended in a frenzy till the last second. Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to field first. Lucknow fans were in for a shock on the very first ball of the game. Captain KL Rahul ducked out in response to Mohammad Shami pace attack. Following the first over, Mohammad Shami took the wickets of De Kock and Manish Pandey in his next two overs. Due to Shami's rage, team Lucknow lost 4 wickets for 29 runs in the first 5 overs.

The Lucknow team was pushed to the point where it was a big deal for them to score 100 runs. While the team was faltering, Deepak Hooda and youngster Ayush started playing casually together. Especially the young player Ayush caught everyone's attention. In his inaugural IPL match, he played casually and scored a fifty off thirty-eight balls when the Lucknow team was under pressure. At the other end, Deepak Hooda also scored a half-century as the Lucknow team crossed the 100 mark due to their partnership. Both added 87 runs for the 5th wicket. In the end, Krunal Pandya scored 21 off 13 balls and gave the team a fine finish. At the end of 20 overs, the team scored 158 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Like Lucknow fans Gujarat fans were shocked this time in the very first over. Lucknow team bowler Dushmantha chameera bowled the first over, where Shubman gill went for a duck in his third ball. Chameera then took the wicket of Vijay Shankar by his sharp Yorker in his second over. At the end of 2.1 overs, the team lost 2 wickets and stumbled to take only 15 runs. Then captain Hardik Pandya and wicket-keeper Matthew Wade both significantly boosted the team’s score. Both played brilliantly and crossed 30 runs. The team, which was in fine form with 72 runs at the end of 10 overs, faced another crisis with Krunal Pandya's bowling. Krunal Pandya took the wicket of his brother Hardik Pandya who was playing well. Then in the next over, Deepak bowled out Matthew wade and at the end of 12 overs Gujarat Titans were 79/4.

Not so many runs came in the next 3 overs after the 12th over. That was when the turning point in the game came. Captain KL Rahul gave the 16th over to Deepak Hooda. Gujarat made good use of that over, David miller and Rahul Tewatia scored 22 runs in that one over. Captain KL Rahul made another mistake in the very next over at crucial time. The 17th over was bowled by spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Miller and Tewatiia scored 17 runs in this over. And now Gujarat needed only 29 runs in the last 3 overs of the match.

David Miller was bowled by Avesh Khan in the 18th over and the match was again in turmoil. Gujarat currently need 20 runs in two overs to win. Young lad Abhinav Manohar joined hands in the mission. Both scored boundary in the penultimate over. And now 11 runs needed in the last over, where Abhinav with not that much pressure casually scored consecutive boundaries in the first two balls. Then Rahul Tewatiya finishes off the game by his winning boundary. Rahul remained not out for 40 runs off 24 balls with 5 boundaries & 2 sixes.

Where did Lucknow lose their track?

Team Lucknow were the favourites till the 15th over. But then the two costly overs changed everything. Chameera who had 2 overs left in his hand should be called instead of deepak or Ravi Bishnoi. Captain KL Rahul should be aware of this concern in his upcoming matches.
