The match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will be as interesting as the match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. The match between the two teams ended a few minutes ago without even diminishing that impression. Captain Rohit Sharma who won the toss in the match, chose to bowl first. Not everyone knew what Jos Buttler was going to do in today’s game until before the match started.

Jos Buttler kept the Mumbai bowlers in nervous condition almost till the final over of the match. He hit 11 fours and 5 sixes in 68 balls and scored a total of 100 runs. Jos Buttler recorded his third century in his 300th T20 match today. He too joins with Sachin and warner by scoring the 2nd slowest IPL Hundred off 66 deliveries. Manish Pandey holds the first place with his 67 ball hundred. In the last 5 innings vs Mumbai Indians, Jos Buttler now has a stellar strike rate of 164 and the Batting average of 98.5 respectively.

Along with him, Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson scored 30 off 21 balls and Shimron Hetmyer scored 35 off 14 balls. With the help of all these, Rajasthan Royals scored a good total of 193 runs for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs.

The Mumbai Indians started playing with a huge challenge in front of them. Mumbai skipper Rohit was dismissed for 10 runs. After that, Anmolpreet Singh was bowled out for 5. Tilak Varma who later teamed up with Ishant Kishan, played a bit relaxed. First Ishan Kishan started playing aggressively and then he was joined by Tilak Varma. Ishan Kishan scored 54 off 43 balls. Boult took his wicket in the final ball of the 13th over. Tilak Varma hit 3 fours and 5 sixes in 32 balls to take Mumbai to victory with a total of 61, while Ravichandran Ashwin cleverly bowled him out in the 15th over.

Two great finishers Pollard and Tim David in t20 business then join hands. The fans imagined that they would both make the Mumbai team win for sure. In a few seconds, Chahal took the wicket of David in the first ball of the 16th over and he put an end to their imagination. Action all-rounder Daniel Sams also lost his wicket off the next ball.

Kieron Pollard batting as a lone batsman, struck out with 22 runs off the last ball of the match. In the end, Rajasthan Royals won by 23 runs. It was the second consecutive second defeat for the Mumbai Indians.

One important thing to note is that the Rajasthan Royals have won the match by batting first in both the matches they have played. Seven teams have batted first and lost at the end in the ongoing IPL, with Rajasthan being the only successful team to bat first in both the matches they played with a win at the end.

Mistakes made by Mumbai Indians in today's match:

Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler combo scored 82 runs for the 3rd wicket. The duo combined for 82 runs in almost 8 overs. In these 8 overs, the Mumbai Indians bowlers must have taken the wicket of either of them. Similarly, Jos Buttler and Hetmyer combo scored 53 runs for the 4th wicket. Both of them added those 53 runs in the next 4 overs. If the Mumbai bowlers had taken the wicket of either of them this time around, it would not have been possible for the Rajasthan Royals to have scored more than 160 runs.

Similarly, the key players of the match, Captain Rohit and action all-rounder Tim David both lost the game by short runs.It is noteworthy that the Mumbai team failed to reach the target set by the Rajasthan Royals as the duo did not play well today. But with the strong mentality that we have seen the Mumbai Indians in the previous editions, it could be interesting if they reach the playoffs after the two consecutive defeats in the start of the league.
