What an action-packed game! These MI-CSK games are extremely nerve-wracking, and they put our souls to the test every time. 155 felt under-par at the break, despite the two-paced nature of the surface, but Mumbai Indians' new-look bowlers battled much above their weight right from the outset, taking wickets at regular intervals. Chennai Super Kings never had the advantage in the run chase. Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu, the only batters to get going, couldn't find the correct tempo, and it looked like MI was squeezing their way to their first win of the season after their wickets. Bumrah bowled wonderfully to give Unadkat 16 to defend in the last over, turning 42 off 18 into 28 off 12.
Bumrah fought effectively to hand Unadkat 16 to defend in the last over, as 42 off 18 turned 28 off 12. 'When you have to bowl to MS Dhoni in the final over, the pressure isn't on him, it's on you,' a great figure once stated. To be honest, he didn't appear to be in his most theatrical mood today, but experience doesn't come cheap, does it? He stayed composed, and when Unadkat surrendered to the strain, the finisher made him pay.
MS Dhoni's late heroics helped Chennai Super Kings to beat Mumbai Indians by three wickets at the DY Patil Stadium. Mumbai Indians' Tilak Varma top-scored with 51 not out from 43 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav added 21-ball 32.
CSK's Mukesh Choudhary grabbed three wickets for 19 runs, while Dwayne Bravo took two. Mukesh Choudhary cannoned Mumbai Indians' top order in the powerplay, dismissing both openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan for ducks.
Mumbai was dropped to 23/3 in the first three overs when Dewald Brevis was removed for seven runs. Suryakumar Yadav's prized wicket was taken by Mitchell Santner.
Kieron Pollard was again dismissed cheaply, but Mumbai's Tilak Varma saved the side with a fantastic half-century. Mumbai Indians post 155/7 in 20 overs thanks to Tilak Varma’s valiant knock of 51.
