The second T20I between India and Ireland was played at Dublin with India leading the series 1-0. Ireland won the toss and chose to field first. India got to a decent start getting to 26/0 in the first 4 overs. In the 4th over, Craig Young got rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal. In the span of 3 balls, Tilak Varma lost his wicket to Barry McCarthy.

Ruturaj Gaikwad never let the run rate go down as he was getting boundaries at regular intervals. Sanju Samson increased the tempo in the 11th over scoring 18 runs off Josh Little. In the 13th over, Sanju Samson was dismissed for a well made 40. Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad had a partnership of 71 runs off just 49 deliveries.

Ruturaj Gaikwad got to his fifty off just 39 balls. He lost his wicket in the 16th over for a well made 58 which consisted of 6 boundaries and a maximum. From overs 16-18, Ireland bowled really well conceding just 14 runs and picking up a wicket. Rinku Singh accelerated well in the 19th over, as India got 22 runs of it. In the final over Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh got 20 runs to India to a total of 185/5. Rinku Singh played a great cameo of 38 runs off just 21 balls. Barry McCarthy starred with the ball getting 2 wickets to his name.

Chasing 186, Ireland had a great start getting 18/0 in the first 2 overs. In the 3rd over, Prasidh Krishna got 2 breakthroughs as Ireland found themselves at 19/2 at the end of the 3rd over. Ravi Bishnoi got the crucial wicket of Harry Tector off his 2nd delivery as Ireland were struggling at 31/3 at the end of the powerplay. From there, the Irish skipper batted really well to consolidate the innings.

Curtis Campher and Andy Balbirnie had a partnership of 32 runs. Ravi Bishnoi broke the partnership getting the wicket of Curtis Campher in the 10th over. Ireland needed 123 runs off the last 10 overs. In the next 5 overs, Ireland got 52 runs before George Dockrell was run out after a mix-up in the middle. Arshdeep Singh got the wicket of Andy Balbirnie in the 16th over for a well made 72. With that, the hopes of Ireland came to an end. With Ireland needing 62 runs off the last 4 overs, India bowled really well 11 runs off the next overs and picked up a wicket.

In the 19th over, Prasidh Krishna gave 12 runs off the first 2 deliveries, but eventually held his nerve to bring the game back in India’s favour. Ireland needed 38 runs to win off the final over, but Jasprit Bumrah finished the game off with a maiden to seal the game for India. India won the match by 33 runs and had an unbeatable lead of 2-0. Rinku Singh was adjudged the man of the match for his efforts with the bat.
