The Ireland Senior Men's squad last participated in T20I cricket in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup in June, hence this series represents their comeback to the shorter format.

In their five head-to-head matches, South Africa has prevailed in each of the two teams' matches:

When the two teams last faced off in Twenty20 International Cricket in Bristol in 2022, the Proteas emerged victorious 2-0 in the series (see here).

The only prior T20I matches the two teams had played were in Ireland in 2021 (see here).

Ireland Men's last T20I cricket match in Abu Dhabi took place in March of this year, during a competitive series that they lost 1-2 against Afghanistan.
