England Men’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler will miss the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies as he continues recovering from a calf injury. Despite showing progress, Buttler suffered a minor setback in his rehabilitation and will now sit out the three-match series, which begins on October 31 in Antigua. He is, however, expected to join the squad in Barbados for the five-match T20 series starting on November 9.
In Buttler's absence, Liam Livingstone has been appointed as captain for the ODI series, marking his first time leading England in international cricket. Livingstone, known for his explosive batting and bowling versatility, will step up alongside interim head coach Marcus Trescothick. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has yet to decide whether a replacement player will be added to the squad for the ODI matches
Buttler's return to the T20 format is eagerly anticipated, especially after a challenging period of injuries, including missing the Hundred and other white-ball series earlier in the year. Meanwhile, England will be fielding a strong squad, with players like Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Adil Rashid set to feature across both series
