Meso’s Masterclass Sets Up Steyn City’s Victory
After being asked to bat first, Steyn City School made full use of the opportunity, with Meso leading from the front. She dominated the bowlers, finding gaps effortlessly and punishing loose deliveries. The foundation for the big total was laid by a crucial 111-run partnership between Meso and captain Diara Ramlakan, who played an anchoring role with a solid 35.
Saints Christian School struggled to contain the onslaught as Meso accelerated in the latter half of the innings, bringing up her century in just 69 balls. Her unbeaten 117 was laced with elegant strokes and powerful hits, ensuring Steyn City reached an imposing 178/2 in their 20 overs.
For Saints, standout bowler Siphumelele Duma, who had been impressive throughout the tournament, managed to pick up a wicket but was unable to halt Steyn City’s charge.
Saints’ Chase Falls Short
Chasing 179 in a high-pressure final, Saints Christian School needed a strong start, but Steyn City’s bowlers had other plans. Their disciplined attack ensured that wickets fell at regular intervals, never allowing the opposition to settle into a rhythm.
Reabetswe Dithipe provided some resistance with a well-compiled 39, while Tshegofatso Monyela contributed 23, but the rest of the batting lineup crumbled under the relentless pressure applied by Steyn City’s bowlers.
Sivaakani Naidoo was the pick of the bowlers, dismantling the Saints lineup with a remarkable spell of 4/26. Olivia Marais also played a crucial role, taking 2/21 to restrict Saints to 117/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
