Adani Delhi Premier League T20: Central Delhi Kings defeat East Delhi Riders by five wickets thanks to Keshav Dabas' fifty.

New Delhi, August 27, 2024: In the 16th game of the Adani Delhi Premier League T20, Central Delhi Kings defeated East Delhi Riders by five wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday thanks to a tenacious 60-run combination off 40 balls from Keshav Dabas and Aryan Rana.

With the help of Anuj Rawat's 61 off 44 and captain Himmat Singh's 63 off 33 balls, East Delhi Riders amassed 172/5 in their 20 overs. Nevertheless, East Delhi Riders suffered their first loss of the season when Central Delhi Kings chased down the mark in 17.5 overs thanks to Dabas' undefeated 52 off 27 balls.

Yash Dhull (8 off 11) and Dhruv Kaushik (15 off 8) took early wickets, but Hiten Dalal and captain Jonty Sidhu kept the scoreboard ticking along, enabling Central Delhi Kings to score 51/2 in the Powerplay.

Dalal's innings of 31 off 18 balls came to an end in the ninth over, and Central Delhi Kings were at 75/4 at the halfway point after Sidhu (15 off 18) followed him back to the pavilion.

The run chase was then steadied by Aryan Rana and Keshav Dabas. The goal was lowered to 41 required from the final four overs by their conservative approach in the subsequent overs.

After dismissing Rana (28 off 22) in the 17th over, Bhagwan Singh gave East Delhi Riders a breakthrough; however, he let up 27 runs, meaning that Central Delhi Kings just needed 14 off 18 balls. Dabas also reached his fifty on 26 balls in that same over. In the next over, he and Sumit Kumar (13 off 5) struck a barrage of boundaries to enable Central Delhi Kings reach the goal with 13 balls remaining.

The East Delhi Riders were assigned to bat first earlier in the match. Anuj Rawat and Sujal Singh, the opening pair, got off to a poor start, but by the seventh over, the team had scored 50 runs. Singh was granted a lifeline when he was dropped in the ninth over, but he was unable to take use of it as he was removed by Harish Dagar in the same over, having made 31 off 28 balls. After 13 overs, Rawat changed gears and reached his fifty in 38 balls, leaving East Delhi Riders at 103/2.

East Delhi Riders were unable to score easily as a result of the Central Delhi Kings' tight bowling. In the fifteenth over, Mayank Rawat was sent back for a golden duck after Rawat (61 off 44) was removed by Keshav Dabas's double blow. Himmat led the East Delhi Riders to 128/3 by the 16th over of play.

Captain Himmat and Samarth Seth picked up speed in the last four overs, smashing 44 runs. Himmat finished with 63 off 33 balls, his third successive fifty of the tournament before being removed in the last over. With 12 off 11, Seth contributed to the team's competitive total of 172/5.
