Dane Patterson - 8/52 vs Worcestershire  In Division Two, 17 wickets were recorded at Trent Bridge as Stuart Broad's comeback was overtaken by Dane Patterson's career-best figures of 8 for 52 against Worcestershire. Nottinghamshire's best scorer was Haseeb Hameed, who had 53 runs.

Shaheen Afridi - 3/54 vs Leicestershire

Pakistan bowler Shaheen Afridi created a headlines in his first County Championship season after taking four wickets on his Middlesex debut against Glamorgan. Shaheen got 3 more wickets to his total in the morning session of the Division Two match against Leicestershire at Lord's. In fact, on the first day of his home debut, he came close to scoring a hat trick. Shaheen removed opener Hasan Azad and skipper Colin Ackermann off the first two deliveries of the fifth over of Leicestershire's innings. Louis Kimber stood firm and defended the delivery with Shaheen on a hattrick. 

Shaheen, by the way, had missed out on a hat trick in the previous game. Middlesex trounced Glamorgan by an innings and 82 runs at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, with Shaheen dismissing Marnus Labuschagne twice. Glamorgan were knocked out for 122 after being asked into bat, with Shaheen and Toby-Roland Jones each taking three wickets. Middlesex responded with 336 runs thanks to John Simpson's 104 runs and Jones' 65.

Hasan Ali - 5/45 vs Hampshire

Hasan Ali, a Pakistani speed bowler, extended his hot streak in the current County Championship by picking up another five-wicket haul for Lancashire against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Thursday. Hasan took the wickets of Liam Dawson, Ben Brown, Keith Barker, Kyle Abbott, and fellow countryman Mohammad Abbas on Day 1, completing with figures of 5fer in 15 Overs. He presently tops the County Championship wicket-taking lists in both divisions.

Ben Stokes 161 (88) vs Worcestershire

Ben Stokes, England's freshly crowned Test captain, returned to Durham with a world-record-breaking 88-ball 161 and came close to hitting six sixes in a single over. Only two men in first-class cricket history have done so – Sir Garfield Sobers in 1968 and Ravi Shastri in 1985 – and a silence fell over the stadium as Stokes sent the first five deliveries of Josh Baker's 20th over into the crowd, bringing up a 64-ball century. It the final delivery of his 20th Over he managed to hit a four. 34 Runs had been raided from that over. Ben Stokes has broken the record for the most sixes in an innings in English cricket - with 17. He eventually holes out and depart for a brilliant 161 from 88 balls.
