New Delhi, August 30, 2024: On Friday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, North Delhi Strikers defeated Central Delhi Kings in the ongoing Adani Delhi Premier League T20 with a score of nine runs.
Dhruv Kaushik and Hiten Dalal opened the innings for Central Delhi Kings, who were chasing 101 runs in 10 overs. Manan Bhardwaj dismissed Dhruv for eight runs in the opening over. After being promptly removed from the game, Saurav Dagar and Captain Jonty Sidhu left the Central Delhi Kings floundering at 40/5 after five overs.
The Central Delhi Kings struggled to match the run rate as wickets were falling frequently. Lakshay Thareja scored 24 runs off of 16 balls without losing. He hit two boundaries and a six during his innings.
The Central Delhi Kings had won the toss and chosen to bowl first earlier in the innings. Rain forced the match to be shortened to 10 overs. Vaibhav Kandpal and Sarthak Ranjan started the innings for the North Delhi Strikers. The opening batsmen both took to the opposition's bowling, giving the pair an early advantage.
The first breakthrough for Central Delhi Kings came when Sumit Kumar removed Vaibhav Kandpal for 12 runs off of 8 balls. North Delhi Strikers were 36/1 at the end of the powerplay. Keshav Dabas then removed Yajas Sharma for 23 runs off of 6 balls in the fourth over.
After dismissing the very effective batter Sarthak Ranjan for just 29 runs off of 18 balls, Sumit Kumar claimed his second wicket. Two sixes and three boundaries marked his innings. Rajneesh Dadar got rid of Yash Dabas after he scored 14 runs. The North Delhi Strikers reached a score of 100/8 in the 10 overs that were allocated to them, with wickets falling at regular intervals as the innings came to a close.
Sumit Kumar, Keshav Dabas, and Rajneesh Dadar each claimed two wickets for the Central Delhi Kings.
