PAK, NZ, SA Set for High-Stakes Tri-Nation ODI Series

As excitement builds ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the stage is set for a high-intensity tri-nation ODI series featuring Pakistan (PAK), New Zealand (NZ), and South Africa (SA). The tournament, running from February 8-14, will be played at the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi, giving teams a crucial opportunity to fine-tune their strategies before the global event.

Opening Clash: PAK vs NZ in Lahore

The series kicks off on February 8 with PAK facing NZ in a day-night match at Gaddafi Stadium. PAK, led by in-form skipper Mohammad Rizwan, will be looking to extend their winning streak in ODI series after triumphs over AUS, ZIM, and SA in 2024.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Rizwan expressed his enthusiasm for playing at home.

“We are excited to be playing in front of our home crowd and at our newly upgraded venues in Lahore and Karachi. The team is in good shape, and we are looking forward to giving our best in the tournament before the ICC event.”

Meanwhile, NZ’s Mitchell Santner acknowledged the importance of this series in helping his team adjust to Pakistani conditions.

“We had a good training session under lights in Lahore, and we’re eager to take on the home side. Playing in this tri-series will be an excellent way to understand the wickets before the Champions Trophy.”

SA Arrives in Pakistan, Eyes Tournament Success

SA, under the leadership of Temba Bavuma, landed in Lahore on February 7 and will begin training on February 8. The Proteas have a mix of experienced and young players, looking to adapt quickly to conditions before their first match against NZ on February 10.

Bavuma emphasized the importance of the series for team preparations.

“This tri-nation tournament will be valuable in helping us acclimatize before the ICC event. With a mixed squad, this is a great opportunity to test combinations and gain momentum.”

A Perfect ICC Champions Trophy Warm-Up

The tournament serves as an ideal dress rehearsal for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which begins on February 19. The top two teams from this tri-series will battle for the trophy in the final on February 14 in Karachi.
