Pakistan Shaheens beat Melbourne Renegades in Top End T20 series
At the TIO Stadium in Darwin on Thursday, Pakistan Shaheens defeated Melbourne Renegades by four wickets to record their third victory in the Top End T20 series.
Shaheens lost opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan (4, 4b, 1x4) in the first over while chasing the 108-run mark. Mohammad Haris, the captain, scored 17 runs in 13 balls by hitting three fours.
Before succumbing to Tyler Pearson in the ninth over, Omair Bin Yousuf (25, 21b, 2x4s, 1x6) stitched a 29-run third wicket partnership with Usman Khan.
Usman led the chase with a solid 38 off 36 balls, including two fours and a six. After Usman and Muhammad Irfan Khan (12, 16b) were removed from the game in the 17th over, Jahandad Khan struck a six on the final ball of the following over to end the match.
Pearson and Callum Stow dismissed one batsman apiece, while Harry Dixon and Kane Richardson claimed two wickets each.
Following their decision to field first, Pakistan Shaheens regularly got wickets. Blake Macdonald (18, 10b, 3x4s), the opening batsman, was removed by Mubasir Khan in the third over, drawing blood.
With the scoreboard reading 40-3 in 6.1 overs, Dixon and Marcus Harris left the game in the sixth and seventh overs, respectively. Renegades were bowled out for 107 in 18.3 overs after they had collapsed to 67-7 in the middle overs.
The leading scorer for the Renegades was wicketkeeper-batter Jai Lemire (23, 24b, 1x4), who was also the last batter to be removed from the game. Shaheens' best bowler was Jahandad, who took 3-19 in 3.3 overs, with two wickets each from Arif Yaqoob, Mohammad Imran Jr., and Faisal Akram.
Bangladesh 'A' will play Pakistan Shaheens in the next match tomorrow.
