Following an annual performance review, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today published the list of central contracts for 16 women's cricket players for the 2024–25 international season, which will take effect on July 1, 2024. Twenty players were given two-year contracts last year, with the understanding that their performance will be reviewed following the 2023–24 campaign.
In recognition of their recent achievements and rising prominence in the game, Pakistan's skipper Fatima Sana and wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali have been promoted to Category A, while left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has been promoted to Category B.
Rameen Shamim, Tasmia Rubab, and Gull Feroza are the three newcomers to the list. Rameen and Gull have made their comebacks to the central contract list for the first time since 2018 and 2022–2023 respectively, while Tasmia has earned the contract for the first time, marking a significant turning point in her career.
The contracts of Aliya Riaz, Anosha Nasir, Eyman Fatima, Nida Dar, Shawaal Zulfiqar and Sidra Nawaz have not been renewed for the forthcoming season. As the PCB focuses on nurturing the next generation of cricket players in line with the ICC Women's Future Tours Programme 2025–2029, these players will still be available for selection.
Sumair Ahmad Syed, PCB Chief Operating Officer:
"On behalf of the PCB, I would like to express my sincere congratulations to Tasmia Rubab on her maiden central contract, as well as to Fatima Sana, Muneeba Ali, and Sadia Iqbal on their well-deserved promotions. Her advancement and inclusion, together with the reappearance of Rameen Shamim and Gull Feroza, demonstrate our dedication to praising talent and acknowledging steady performance.
"Our forward-thinking approach as we get ready for the new ICC Women's Future Tours Program is reflected in the 2024–25 key contracts. We hope to achieve a balance between developing future stars and maintaining competitiveness at the highest level by providing clear pathways to the up-and-coming cricket player and further investing in established players through noticeably higher retainers.
"A key component of our larger growth strategy is women's cricket. The PCB is dedicated to giving our female cricket players the tools, chances, and encouragement they require to succeed. These contracts encourage the next generation to dream big and test the limits of their abilities in addition to providing incentives for current players.
"Building a more formidable and competitive Pakistan women's team that can proudly represent the country at future ICC events and continuously compete on the international scene is our clear vision."
