Peshawar Zalmi vs Multan Sultans PSL 2025 | Daniyal, Saim Lead Zalmi to Win

Zalmi Bowlers Destroy Sultans to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive in PSL 2025

In a high-stakes encounter at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi delivered a near-perfect bowling performance to outclass the Multan Sultans by seven wickets in Match 25 of HBL PSL X. The victory, powered by a ruthless bowling spell from Ahmed Daniyal and supported by disciplined performances across the attack, kept Zalmi's playoffs hopes very much alive.

Ahmed Daniyal Leads Bowling Carnage as Sultans Crumble

Electing to bat first, Multan Sultans endured a catastrophic collapse. Their innings never got going, and despite some fleeting moments of resistance, they were bundled out for 108 in 19.1 overs. The collapse began early with Yasir Khan falling to Saim Ayub for 10, and captain Mohammad Rizwan following soon after, courtesy of a sharp delivery from Luke Wood.

The only brief respite for Sultans came through Tayyab Tahir (22) and Shai Hope (23), who put together a modest 26-run stand. However, that partnership ended when Ahmed Daniyal dismissed Tahir, triggering a domino effect of wickets. Ashton Turner was dismissed for a duck by left-arm spinner Maaz Sadaqat, and things worsened when Muhammad Amir Barki and Shahid Aziz fell in quick succession, reducing Multan to 66/6.

From that point, the innings disintegrated. Hope was the only batter showing fight, but his dismissal at the hands of Alzarri Joseph sealed the fate. Ahmed Daniyal returned to wrap up the tail with superb figures of 3 for 12, while Maaz (2 for 12) and Wood (2 for 18) provided excellent support.

Saim Ayub and Bryant Shine in Controlled Chase

With a modest target of 109, Zalmi had a wobble early when Mitchell Owen was dismissed in the opening over. However, Saim Ayub, who had struggled for rhythm in recent games, responded with a fluent 49 off 33 balls. His knock included four boundaries and three sixes, reviving his form when his team needed it most.

Shahid Aziz caused a brief scare by removing both Babar Azam (8) and Saim in successive overs, but Max Bryant ensured there would be no further hiccups. Bryant played a mature, composed innings, finishing unbeaten on 38 from 29 balls, guiding Zalmi to the target with seven wickets in hand and 42 balls remaining.

Playoff Equation and Momentum Shift

This commanding win boosts Peshawar Zalmi's points tally to eight, placing them fifth in the standings. With two matches left, the equation is simple: win both games and rely on net run rate or favorable outcomes from other fixtures. The positive performance, especially with the ball, gives Babar Azam's team belief heading into the final leg of the group stage.

For Multan Sultans, the situation is far more dire. This loss marks their fifth consecutive defeat, a stunning downfall for a side that started the tournament with such promise. Their playoff hopes are fading fast unless they produce something extraordinary in their remaining fixtures.
