DPL T20 | Priyansh Arya 82 leads South Delhi Superstarz to second successive win beat Central Delhi Kings by six wickets

With Priyansh Arya's 82, South Delhi Superstarz defeats Central Delhi Kings by six wickets for their second straight victory.

New Delhi, August 20, 2024: In Tuesday's Adani Delhi Premier League T20 sixth match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, South Delhi Superstarz defeated Central Delhi Kings by six wickets thanks to Priyansh Arya's brilliant 82 off 51 balls.

Dhruv Kaushik and Yash Dhull scored fifty runs apiece to lead Central Delhi Kings to a total of 176/7 in 20 overs. However, South Delhi Superstarz, led by Arya and Ayush Badoni, skilfully pursued the target in 19.1 overs.
Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya attacked the South Delhi Superstarz's run chase of 177 with calm and calculated batting after the early loss of Sarthak Ray (0 off 1) in the opening over. They steadily scored more than 10 runs per over after bringing the score to 45/1 at the conclusion of the powerplay. While Badoni made a crucial 42 off 36 balls before being caught at midwicket and losing out on his half-century, Arya reached his fifty in 32 balls.

Arya and Tejaswi Dahiya's fluid stroke play had the South Delhi Superstarz well in control by the strategic timeout. Arya was removed in the 17th over after amassing a remarkable 82 from 51 balls with seven sixes and three fours. In the subsequent over, Tejaswi came next, scoring 22 off of 14. The South Delhi Superstarz required just 17 runs from 16 deliveries, so they were still in a strong position despite these early wickets.

In the 19th over, Vision Panchal and Dhruv Singh added two sixes and a four to complete the triumph, which became the South Delhi Superstarz's second straight tournament victory.

Hiten Dalal (10 off 9) was dismissed cheaply by Divij Mehra in the third over of the match earlier. But captain Yash Dhull took the initiative and led by example, keeping the scoreboard moving with Dhruv Kaushik as they put up a strong 91 runs off 65 balls, reaching the 100 run mark in the 13th over. Kaushik scored 56 off 33 balls before being removed in the next over.

Taking advantage of the momentum, the South Delhi Superstarz claimed five wickets in a row. Despite the rapid elimination of Dhull (52 off 44), Keshav Dabas (3 off 7), Jonty Sidhu (14 off 10), Lakshay Thareja (3 off 4), and Harish Dagar, Central Delhi Kings managed to score 29 runs in the final two overs. Dagar's significant final-overs cameo of 23 off 10 balls helped Central Delhi Kings to 176/7 in their 20 overs.
