New Delhi, August 21, 2024: Purani Dilli 6 made a spectacular comeback from two consecutive defeats by defeating West Delhi Lions by seven wickets in their third Adani Delhi Premier League T20 encounter on Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The West Delhi Lions were limited to 141/9 in 20 overs by Purani Dilli 6 thanks to Laxman's 3/41 and Aayush Singh Thakur's 2/27. Purani Dilli 6 was led by Arpit Rana's undefeated 56 off 43 balls to reach the goal in 17.1 overs.
Following an ambitious start to their 142-run chase with the ball, Purani Dilli 6 adopted a more aggressive strategy. With fluid strokes, Rana took the lead, and Manjeet gave constant assistance. Up until Manjeet was removed in the fourth over, the two were scoring at a rate of more than ten runs per over. At 56/1 at the end of the powerplay, Purani Dilli 6 had established a commanding lead.
Rana maintained one end intact as he reached his fifty in 42 balls in the 16th over, despite two quick wickets of Sanat Sangwan (22 off 25) and Lalit Yadav (7 off 9). Purani Dilli 6 reduced the score to 16 needed from 24 balls.
Purani Dilli 6 secured a convincing seven-wicket victory because to the easy chase down of the mark by Rana and Vansh Bedi, who amassed an undefeated thirty from eighteen.
Having lost their opening two games, Purani Dili 6 chose to bowl first after winning the toss. In the opening over, Lalit Yadav dismissed Ankit Kumar for a duck, preventing the West Delhi Lions from getting off to a good start. The next batsman to be removed for a single run was Anmol Sharma (1 off 2), who was bowled by Aayush Singh Thakur, but Keshav Dalal made an excellent catch to end the over.
Purani Dili 6 took advantage of the team's inability to score runs to put the West Delhi Lions on the defensive. With West Delhi Lions struggling at 7/3 at 2.2 overs, Aryan Dalal (1 off 4) was sent back to the pavilion after he was run out in the third over.
Following a 27-run partnership off 33 balls between Shivam Gupta (13 off 20) and Hrithik Shokeen, the former was removed by Laxman in the eighth over.
In the meantime, Captain Hrithik established a useful alliance with Dev Lakra and kept the scoreboard running from the opposite end. For the fifth wicket, the pair quickly put up 31 runs in just 25 balls together. In the twelfth over, Hrithik was removed after scoring 28 runs from 32 balls, including three boundaries.
Ekansh was able to find boundaries with ease, carrying over his excellent play from the previous game.
