MS Dhoni, the former Indian World cup winning captain, is still active and now plays for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni stepped down as CSK captain before the start of 2022 season, handing the scepter to Prince Ravindra Jadeja, however, he will continued to bat as a wicket-keeper.

Oldest Player to score Fifty:

The IPL 2022 competition began with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), with fans being pleasantly delighted to witness MS Dhoni reclaiming his Vintage touch with a typical MS-innings taking the team's total to 131 runs. It was a typical MS Dhoni innings: slow at the start, get his eye in, analyze the conditions, and target his bowlers before wreaking havoc in the last overs. After a two-year, the 40-year-old hit an IPL fifty, but it was in vain as KKR cruised over the target in the 19th over.

He becomes the 3rd oldest player to score fifty in IPL.

MS Dhoni spotted with Orange Gloves:

The wicket-keeping gloves of MS Dhoni caught a lot of attention as CSK entered the field in the second innings of the contest. Instead of camouflage gloves, MS was spotted wearing orange-colored gloves, which he preferred in early stage of his international career. Given that MS Dhoni is nearing the conclusion of his career, this might be a sign that he has made up his mind and that the IPL 2022 season would be his final tournament. Although there is no evidence of this, he has a history of shocking the cricketing world with his announcements.

Meanwhile, CSK had a disappointing start to their season, losing against KKR by a large margin. With the exception of MS Dhoni, no other batsman performed well, as the side could only muster 131 runs in 20 overs.

With opener Ajinkya Rahane scoring 44 runs off 34 deliveries, KKR comfortably chased down the mark. KKR managed to go over the line with more than an over to spare thanks to the middle-order batsmen. Dhoni will return to play on March 31 when the Chennai Super Kings take on the Lucknow Super Giants at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium.

MS Dhoni pays his Tribute to the manufacturer:

During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England MS Dhoni used multiple branded logos that emerged on his bat during the tournament. The former India captain was spotted using bats with the labels of 3 different companies: SG, SS, and BAS.  In the Era of sponsorship, this was strange from arguably India’s most marketable cricketer of the current generation.

Dhoni on his early stage of his career, he had an associated with SG, SS and BAS. Later, he signed with Rebook and placed their stickers on his bat. Those were only stickers, as Reebok does not produce high-quality bats, but Dhoni persevered with them for a long period. During World cup winning campaign on 2011, he used Reebok stickered bat and hit the six in the finals of the tournament to win the world cup. It was recorded as world's most expensive cricket bat owned by none other than MS Dhoni and is valued at Rs 83 lakhs. Dhoni ended India's 28-year wait for the World Cup title in 2011, as he led his side to a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final. In 2013, he inked a contract with Spartan and wore their brand on his bat for several years before the partnership broke apart due to rumours of the firm defaulting on payments.

Considering ICC Cricket World cup 2019 as his last international tournament MS Dhoni was spotted using SG, SS and BAS Kits and gears.  As they are associated with him in early stage of his career, he attempted to use these bats in the 2019 World Cup in his way of expressing thanks to the brands that supported him. He thought of giving a tribute to all the manufacturers that have served him by using their bats with their logos at Global event.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s manager, Arun Pandey, told Mumbai Mirror, “It’s a fact that he has been using different bats with different brandings, but he is not charging them. He wishes to express his gratitude for their assistance during his career. "Dhoni is a man with a great heart. He doesn't need money; he has plenty, and he's making a goodwill gesture with those bats. BAS was with him from the start, and SG was also really supportive," he stated.
