Sachin Tendulkar Set for a Sensational Return to IPL 2025 – To Play for MI in the Next Match!
Mumbai, April 2, 2025 – By Cricket Chronicle Staff
In what could be the most iconic moment in cricket history, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is all set to return to professional cricket and not just anywhere, but in the biggest T20 league in the world: the IPL.
Yes, you read that right. According to multiple internal sources within the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise, Sachin Tendulkar is officially registered to play in MI’s next IPL 2025 match at the Wankhede Stadium.
The 51-year-old legend, who last played in the IPL in 2013 and bid farewell to all forms of cricket shortly thereafter, is reportedly making a "one-match comeback" in response to MI's recent injury crisis and a unique fan engagement campaign launched by the franchise.
The Comeback No One Saw Coming
While cricket fans across the world have long dreamed of a Tendulkar comeback, few thought it would actually happen. But an unexpected turn of events has opened the door for this fairytale return.
According to inside reports, MI suffered a triple blow with three of their star top-order batters ruled out due to minor injuries. With options limited and fan morale dipping after back-to-back losses, team management reached out to Tendulkar MI's batting mentor in what started as a light-hearted suggestion.
But Sachin, ever the competitor, took it as a challenge.
“He smiled at us during a team dinner and said, ‘Maybe it’s time I pad up again,’” revealed an MI insider. “We thought he was joking… until he showed up at the nets the next morning in full gear!”
Full-Throttle in the Nets
What followed was nothing short of magical.
Tendulkar, who has remained extremely fit and active since retirement, reportedly batted for over an hour against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee, and Arjun Tendulkar and barely missed a beat.
“He was middling everything,” said one of MI’s support staff. “It was vintage Sachin. Cover drives, flicks, straight punches you name it. Even Bumrah raised his eyebrows after getting driven for three straight boundaries.”
Arjun Tendulkar, who currently plays for MI, was quoted saying, “I never thought I’d bowl to my father in a professional net session again. I actually sledged him and he pulled me for six. Then told me to get back to my length. It was epic.”
Special Exemption by BCCI
According to IPL insiders, the BCCI has granted a one-time exemption for the Mumbai legend to be reactivated for the tournament.
“He’s Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar,” a BCCI spokesperson allegedly said. “Rules exist, but so do exceptions especially for gods.”
If cleared officially by MI and BCCI later this evening, Sachin will wear the iconic No. 10 jersey once again, walk out at Wankhede, and potentially open the innings for Mumbai Indians for the first time in 12 years.
Ticket sales have reportedly skyrocketed, with online platforms crashing as soon as the rumors hit social media. MI’s official handle hasn’t confirmed the news but posted a cryptic tweet earlier today:
“A legend never truly retires… Watch this space.”
Fans and Cricketers React
The internet exploded within minutes.
Virat Kohli tweeted: “Goosebumps just thinking about it. If this is real, I’m buying a ticket myself.”
Rohit Sharma posted a photo of him touching Sachin’s feet with the caption, “One more time, Paaji? Let’s go!”
Meanwhile, social media has gone into absolute meltdown. Hashtags like #SachinReturns, #GOATisBack, and #WankhedeAwaits are trending globally.
Fans have already begun camping outside the Wankhede Stadium with posters reading “We waited 12 years for this” and “Don’t make us cry again, Sachin!”
Will He Actually Play
MI has announced a press conference tonight at 8 PM IST. While the final squad list hasn’t been officially released, multiple reports confirm that Tendulkar has been included in the 16-member squad for the next match against Rajasthan Royals.
Whether he actually takes the field or not is still unclear but one thing is certain: cricket fever has never been this real.
APRIL FOOLS!
Relax, folks. As much as we’d all love to see the Little Master grace the field one more time, this was just a classic April Fools’ Day prank.
No, Sachin is not coming out of retirement (at least not this week). He’s still MI’s mentor, still inspiring future generations, and still batting a thousand in our hearts.
We hope you had as much fun reading this as we did writing it. Gotcha, didn’t we?
Happy April Fools' Day!
Now go prank someone else before the day’s over!
