The 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament features players from seven different teams.
New Zealand's champions and runners-up Stars from England, India, the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Australia are also chosen, while South Africa is represented by three players each, including the 12th player.
Amelia Kerr, who won the Player of the Tournament trophy and Player of the Match in the final, is an obvious choice after an outstanding batsmanship campaign.
The 24-year-old helped the White Ferns win the trophy for the first time by taking 15 wickets, the most of any player at an ICC Women's T20 World Cup, and scoring 135 runs, including a game-high 43 in the final.
Coworkers Eden Carson, ranked 12th in this team after taking nine of her own, and Rosemary Mair, who took 10 wickets at 11.70, including three in the final, have joined her in the squad.
Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits are both chosen, and South Africa's opening duo finished as the competition's top two run scorers. With four scores of 40 or higher, including a best of 59 not out in the opening match against the West Indies, Wolvaardt was incredibly reliable and helped her reach a tournament-high total of 223 at 44.60.
In her six innings, the 25-year-old, who was named captain of the Team of the Tournament, struck at 113.19.
Her opening partner Brits played a crucial role for South Africa in the powerplay, scoring 187 runs overall with a best of 57 not out. Brits also made valuable runs throughout the competition. They are joined in the top order by Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who scored 151 runs in four innings. Prior to making significant knocks of 43 and 51 not out in victories over South Africa and Scotland, respectively, she led the scoring with 41 in England's opening victory over Bangladesh. Prior to Nonkululeko Mlaba's series of outstanding performances in the United Arab Emirates, no South African had ever taken more than ten wickets in a single ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
With four for 29 against the West Indies and three for 12 against Scotland, Mlaba made it into the wickets column in each of the six games she participated in. She also claimed two wickets in the final and the crucial wicket of Tahlia McGrath in South Africa's victory over Australia in the semi-final. After an outstanding contest, Nigar Sultana, the captain of Bangladesh, takes the gloves. She impressed with the bat against South Africa (32 not out) and the West Indies (39), and she led her team to their first ICC Women's T20 World Cup victory in ten years against Scotland.
Harmanpreet Kaur, who finished the tournament with an incredible average of 150 despite being dismissed just once in four innings, joins her in the middle order. The Indian player scored undefeated half-centuries in matches against Australia and Sri Lanka. After becoming the highest-ever wicket-taker in the history of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, Megan Schutt was also chosen. With eight victims in 2024, including three for three against New Zealand, the Australian reached her 48th century while averaging just 4.07 runs per over throughout the competition.
The lineup is completed by Deandra Dottin and Afy Fletcher of the West Indies. Dottin, who returned from retirement to play in the tournament, took five wickets and scored 120 runs. In addition, she hit nine sixes—six more than the next-highest number of sixes hit by a single player. After taking 10 wickets at 11.50, including three each against Scotland and England, leg-spinner Fletcher is added. In addition, the 37-year-old claimed two wickets in matches against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Team of the Tournament for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup
