New Delhi, September 01, 2024: North Delhi Strikers defeated South Delhi Superstarz by 61 runs on Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, avenging their defeat the day before. Siddhartha Solanki took five wickets in the match.
Vaibhav Rawal's undefeated 56 off 34 and Yash Dabas' 68 off 40 balls propelled North Delhi Strikers to a 209/4 total in 20 overs. The North Delhi Strikers bowled out the South Delhi Superstarz for 148 thanks to Solanki's 5/19 with the ball.
South Delhi Superstarz, who were already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, got off to a fast start in their run pursuit of 210. Priyansh Arya, who played a remarkable innings against the same opponent yesterday, was bowled out in the third over by impact substitute Siddhartha Solanki for 26 off 9 balls because he was unable to repeat his feat.
After that, Kunwar Bidhuri assumed control of the run chase. With Saurabh Deswal at his side, they increased the team's total to 85/1 by the conclusion of the Powerplay.
As he finished with five wickets, Solanki caused chaos by taking as many as four wickets in quick succession. After nine overs, he dismissed Deswal (16 off 11), Tejaswi Dahiya (0 off 1), Bidhuri (42 off 21), and Tarun Bisht (3 off 7), in that order, bringing South Delhi Superstarz to 101/5.
Sumit Mathur managed to hold onto one end, but Dhruv Singh (13 off 9) and Vision Panchal (5 off 4) fell cheaply as well. But after making 21 off 17, Mathur was also removed by Suyash Sharma in the 14th over, giving North Delhi Strikers the upper hand.
South Delhi Superstarz were bowled out for 148 after Sharma trapped Raghav Singh (3 off 7) LBW in the 16th over and Divij Mehra (13 off 10) was run out on the final ball of the over.
North Delhi Strikers came out swinging, determined to get revenge for their defeat to South Delhi Superstarz the day before. They were off to a great start thanks to openers Vaibhav Kandpal and Sarthak Ranjan, who had them up 53/0 by the fifth over.
But in the sixth over, Raghav Singh gave the South Delhi Superstarz a much-needed boost by getting rid of both openers, Ranjan (28 off 20) and Kandpal (24 off 13).
The aggressive strategy was maintained by Vaibhav Rawal and Yash Dabas, who kept the scoreboard moving quickly. In 11.5 overs, the team reached the 100-run milestone thanks to their partnership. In the fifteenth over, Dabas reached his fifty in thirty-three balls, and the North Delhi Strikers were comfortably ahead at 146/2.
However, Divij Mehra dismissed Dabas for 68 off 40 balls, and the following ball he removed Yajas Sharma for a golden duck, taking the North Delhi Strikers to 166/4 in the 17th over.
In the last two overs, Rawal, who reached his fifty in thirty-three balls in the 19th over, blasted a barrage of boundaries. He and Yash Bhatia (26* off 12) contributed to the North Delhi Strikers' 209/4 result in their 20 Overs.
