Promoting Red-Ball Cricket in the Women's Circuit

With a growing emphasis on women's red-ball cricket globally, this Challenger Trophy serves as a platform for players to adapt to the rigors of multi-day cricket something that has historically been limited in the domestic setup. The performances here will be closely monitored by selectors and coaches ahead of India Women’s future Test series.

The tournament will also be vital for players like Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Tanuja Kanwar, and Tejal Hasabnis, who have been consistent performers in the domestic arena and are eager to push their case for national red-ball selection.

A Crucial Step Toward Expanding Women's Test Opportunities

With India Women having played more Test matches recently, including historic wins at home and abroad, this tournament gains additional significance. It’s not just about developing skills it’s about creating a strong bench of players ready to transition into the longest format of the game whenever required.

As the matches begin on March 25, all eyes will be on Dehradun as the future stars of Indian women’s cricket battle it out for supremacy and perhaps, a spot in India’s next Test squad.
