SRH vs RR IPL 2025: Ishan Kishan Blasts Century as Sunrisers Hyderabad Beat Rajasthan Royals by 44 Runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals 2025 produced fireworks in just the second match of the TATA IPL 2025 season. Batting first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, SRH smashed a monumental 286/6 one of the highest totals in IPL history and despite Rajasthan Royals mounting a spirited chase, they fell short by 44 runs, finishing on 242/6 in their 20 overs. The match was an absolute run-fest, led by a breathtaking century from Ishan Kishan and powerful cameos by Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen. Kishan was deservedly named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 106 off just 47 balls.

This result gave Sunrisers Hyderabad their first win of the IPL 2025 campaign, and while Rajasthan Royals fought hard with notable knocks from Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, the chase proved too steep in the end. The match will be remembered for its sheer volume of boundaries and sixes, setting the tone for what promises to be a high-scoring season ahead.

Ishan Kishan’s Masterclass Headlines High-Scoring Thriller in Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals 2025

The Sunrisers Hyderabad innings was nothing short of explosive. After being put in to bat, SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got off to a blistering start, smashing 45 runs inside the first 3 overs. Abhishek fell early, but it hardly slowed the innings. Travis Head continued with his free-flowing approach, striking 67 off 31 deliveries with 9 boundaries and 3 sixes.

But the real star of the SRH vs RR IPL 2025 clash was Ishan Kishan, who delivered one of his most complete T20 innings. Walking in during the powerplay, Kishan paced his innings with remarkable maturity. He rotated strike early and punished anything loose, building up towards a breathtaking final flourish. He brought up his hundred in just 45 balls, eventually staying unbeaten on 106, including 11 fours and 6 massive sixes. His powerful shot-making ensured SRH never lost momentum.

Nitish Kumar Reddy added a quickfire 30, and Klaasen’s short but impactful 34 off 14 balls lifted the Sunrisers to 286/6 a total that left Rajasthan Royals shell-shocked. For RR, the bowling card painted a brutal picture. Jofra Archer went wicketless and conceded 76 runs, while even their spinners struggled. Tushar Deshpande was the only bright spot, taking 3 wickets and showing some death bowling control.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals had a nightmarish start. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck, and skipper Riyan Parag followed soon after. At 24/2, the chase seemed dead in the water. But Sanju Samson, coming in at number four, injected belief back into the dugout. He played a captain’s knock, smacking 66 off just 37 balls with 7 boundaries and 4 sixes. His partnership with Dhruv Jurel added over 100 runs and briefly gave RR hope.

Jurel was the standout for Rajasthan in the second half. He counter-attacked fearlessly, hitting a superb 70 off 35 balls, which included 6 sixes and 5 boundaries. Hetmyer chipped in with 42 off 23, playing the finisher's role. At one point, RR needed 55 from 18 balls, and with Hetmyer and Jurel at the crease, anything seemed possible.

However, Pat Cummins rotated his bowlers smartly in the death overs. Harshal Patel used his variations well to pick up two key wickets, while Simarjeet Singh bowled a crucial over upfront. Mohammed Shami and Adam Zampa also delivered under pressure. Once Hetmyer was dismissed in the 20th over, Rajasthan’s hopes were dashed. They finished on a valiant 242/6 a score that would win most T20s, but not against this rampant SRH side.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals 2025 fixture set a benchmark for high-scoring thrillers in IPL 2025. SRH’s intent with the bat, led by Kishan’s masterclass, was complemented by their bowlers doing just enough to hold off a brave Royals fightback. The win gives SRH a massive boost in net run rate and confidence as they look to make a strong push in the early stages of the season.

For Rajasthan Royals, the positives are plenty despite the loss. Samson and Jurel’s form, along with Hetmyer’s explosiveness, will give them belief going forward. But they will need to revisit their bowling strategy especially their powerplay and death overs before their next match.

As for Ishan Kishan, the Ishan Kishan century IPL 2025 is already being hailed as one of the innings of the tournament. His aggressive yet calculated approach, especially on a surface offering nothing to bowlers, underlines his growth as a top-order batter.

IPL 2025 has barely started, but if this match was any indicator, fans are in for a season of fireworks.
