Sri Lanka have named 18-man squad for the two-Test tour of Bangladesh. Oshada Fernando has been named with Pathum Nissanka still recovering from the back injury that forced him to miss the second Test in India recently. Oshada, who was left out of the India squad, returns following a string of impressive performances in domestic cricket.
Sri Lanka Test Squad: Dimuth Karunaratne (c), Angelo Mathews, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, Chamika Karunaratne, Ramesh Mendis, Oshada Fernando, Praveen Jayawickrama, Lasith Embuldeniya, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Suminda Lakshan, Kasun Rajitha, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka, Vishwa Fernando
Kamil Mishara, an uncapped 21-year-old top-order batter who just made his T20I debut, has also been included in the squad, along with Dilshan Madushanka, a left-arm seamer who is also uncapped and has been on Sri Lanka's Test watchlist for a few tours.
Lahiru Thirimanne and Charith Asalanka have been left out of the squad alongside Lahiru Kumara and Dushmantha Chameera, the two pacers who will lead their team's fast bowling attack in the T20 World Cup later this year.
Jeffrey Vandersay has been dropped after being named for the India trip but failing to make an appearance. Kasun Rajitha has been selected to the team, having last played a Test in South Africa in 2020.
Ramesh Mendis (injury), Suminda Lakshan, and Asitha Fernando are all back in the team after missing the India tour. According to an announcement from Sri Lanka, Kamindu Mendis has been chosen in place of Roshen Silva, who was "included in the original team but stated his inability to go."
