Suryakumar 51 and Tim David cameo earns first points for Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai bowlers performed an excellent job limiting the Rajasthan Royals to 158 runs on a two-paced track. They lost both of their openers on the powerplay as a result. While Birthday boy Rohit Sharma surrendered to Ashwin cheaply, Ishan Kishan out after a firing start. Suryakumar Yadav, who was promoted to No. 3, expertly balanced prudence and aggressiveness. Tilak Varma proved to be a competent ally, as the pair scored 81 runs for the third wicket.

The asking rate was constantly kept in check, but Mumbai Indians lost both of its set hitters in the span of three strikes. Tim David smacked Chahal for a six and followed it up with back-to-back fours against Kuldeep Sen. With four runs on the board, Pollard was out on the first delivery of the last over. Daniel Sams, on the other hand, came out swinging and smacked a six off the first ball he faced to end the match in style. Despite the dew, Ashwin was RR's best bowler, but they were plainly under-par with the bat today.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals struggled to post runs on the board. While Daryl Mitchell battled, Padikkal and Samson departed early. Buttler also worked tirelessly and was rattled up by a punch to the head from Meredith. He stuck in there and fought the pitch before smashing Shokeen for four sixes in a row to threaten a late attack once more. However, MI's hopes were raised when the spinner took him out in the same over off the last ball. R Ashwin stepped in and threw a great cameo, giving RR's innings a lift.
