Delhi Premier League T20 | Upasana Yadav Stars in North Delhi Strikers Womens 53 Run Victory Over Central Delhi Queens

New Delhi, September 3, 2024: In the opening game of the Adani Women's Delhi Premier League T20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Upasana Yadav's incredible half-century helped the North Delhi Strikers Women defeat the Central Delhi Queens by a commanding 53 runs. Ayushi Soni's undefeated 38* and Upasana Yadav's 73 off 62 helped the Strikers to 134/4. Following that, Nazma Sultana was outstanding with the ball, requiring 4/14 to hold the Central Delhi Queens to 82/7.

In the powerplay, the Central Delhi Queens had difficulty chasing 135 points. The Queens went down to 21/1 after openers Laxmi Yadav (12 off 20) and Neha Chillar (12 off 26) were both off of form. Yadav was bowled out by Sultana on the last ball of the sixth over.  

As Sultana dismissed Neha Chillar and Antra removed Armeet Kaur (2 off 4), the wickets started to fall. To compound the problems for Central Delhi Queens, Vandana Sharma and Deeksha Chaturvedi also fell fast. Paruniki Sisodia (16 off 37) and Shivi Sharma (24* off 34) put together a hard 33-run partnership, but their efforts were in vain. After that, Sultana dismissed Mayuri Singh and Sisodia, and the Central Delhi Queens ended up at 82/7 after 20 overs. 

The North Delhi Strikers Women, who chose to bat first, were encouraged by opener Upasana Yadav's (73 off 62) half-century, which featured 13 boundaries and two sixes. Despite losing Riya Shokeen and Mansi Sharma for little money in the powerplay, Upasana and Ayushi Soni (38* off 43) put together a huge 73 runs in 78 deliveries to dominate the middle overs.  

For the Cental Delhi Queens, Neha Chillar made a breakthrough when she removed Upasana in the 17th over and then removed Nazma Sultana in two consecutive deliveries. Ayushi Soni and Monica (10 off 6) combined for a quick 22 runs in 15 balls and both went undefeated. Despite having a poor start, Ayushi ended the innings with two boundaries as the North Delhi Strikers Women amassed 134/4 in 20 overs.
