With an INR 2.5 crore budget, the JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals entered the TATA WPL 2025 Mini Auction with the goal of securing four spots. They were successful in acquiring youthful talent Niki Prasad, all-rounder N Charani, and wicketkeepers Nandini Kashyap and Sarah Bryce.
To be honest, that was a very good auction for us. I've been following this WPL club for the past two seasons, keeping a careful eye on them, participating in the auction, and everything. And with Nandini and Sarah back in the lineup, we are a much stronger team than we were the previous season. Following the auction, Sourav Ganguly, Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals (WPL), expressed his thoughts.
Nandini Kashyap was the first wicketkeeper the Delhi Capitals purchased for INR 10 lakhs as part of their search for a backup. The 21-year-old wicketkeeper recently helped Uttarakhand win the Senior Women's T20 Trophy with 247 runs at a strike rate of 125.40.
I was shocked to learn that she cost 10 lakhs. We had hoped to get one of Nandini, Simran, or Kamalini, but we weren't prepared for Nandini to be so reasonably priced. "It's amazing to get Nandini and Sarah Bryce at that price," Sourav Ganguly disclosed.
The Delhi Capitals then engaged in a bidding war with the Mumbai Indians, paying INR 55 lakhs to get 20-year-old all-rounder N Charani. Last season, she participated in nine games for the Gujarat Giants. For INR 10 lakhs, the Delhi Capitals purchased Scotland's Sarah Bryce, a batswoman and wicketkeeper, to further boost their team. She has played 58 WT20i games and scored 1290 runs.
The Delhi Capitals won 19-year-old Karnataka player Niki Prasad for INR 10 lakhs at the end of their auction. She was just announced as the U19 team's captain for the first-ever women's U-19 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur.
With these signings, the Delhi Capitals' roster now includes international players Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, and Jess Jonassen in addition to Indian talents Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma.
The Delhi Capitals team:
Indian players: Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, Shikha Pandey, Taniyaa Bhatia (WK), Minnu Mani, Sneha Deepthi, Titas Sadhu, Nandini Kashyap (WK), N Charani, Niki Prasad
Overseas players: Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, Alice Capsey, Annabel Sutherland, Sarah Bryce (WK)
