Adani Delhi Premier League T20: Using the DLS technique, West Delhi Lions defeat South Delhi Superstarz by four runs.

New Delhi, August 30, 2024: In Friday's 21st Adani Delhi Premier League T20 encounter at Arun Jaitley Stadium, West Delhi Lions defeated South Delhi Superstarz by four runs using the DLS system.

West Delhi Lions reached a score of 178/5 in 20 overs thanks to a spectacular 106 off 68 from Krish Yadav. In response, the South Delhi Superstarz got off to a fast start but were only able to reach 123/5 in 15 overs. As a result, they fell four runs short using the DLS method since the rain prevented play from continuing before the deadline.

With all of their might, South Delhi Superstarz set out to capture the 179 points. Priyansh Arya scored a whopping sixteen runs in the first over, but Saksham Gahlot dismissed his partner Saurabh Deswal for a golden duck in the second over. Then, in only two overs, Ayush Badoni struck four sixes, bringing the team's total to 40/2.

In the next over, after scoring 25 from 9 balls, Arya was the next to fall to Rohit Yadav. However, despite hitting his sixth six of the innings and scoring 30 off 7 balls, Badoni was removed in the fourth over. With three wickets out, South Delhi Superstarz managed to score 70 runs in the powerplay, leaving them in need of 109 off 84 balls.

After losing wickets in rapid succession to Tejasvi Dahiya (9 off 9) and Dhruv Singh (15 off 28), South Delhi Superstarz was reduced to 98/5 after 11 overs.

The team's total was 123/5 thanks to careful run-chase tactics by Sumit Mathur and Vision Panchal, who stopped play after 15 overs due to rain, leaving South Delhi Superstarz only four runs behind according to the DLS technique.

The West Delhi Lions had chosen to bat first earlier in the day. Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav, the team's openers, got things going quickly as they scored 61 runs in the Powerplay. Playing a supporting role for Yadav, Digvesh Rathi removed Kumar in the ninth over for 28 off 21.

In the meanwhile, Yadav reached his fifty in forty-one balls in the twelfth over, which enabled the team to score 100 runs in that over. With nine wickets remaining and a commanding position at 120/1 at the end of the 14th over, the West Delhi Lions seemed certain to make a large score.

In the ensuing overs, though, the South Delhi Superstarz were able to hold the West Delhi Lions at bay. The West Delhi Lions were at 141/2 when captain Hritik Shokeen was removed in the 16th over after making 16 off 18 balls, and in the 18th over, Yusuf achieved his century in 62 balls.

The West Delhi Lions were limited to 178/5 in 20 overs by South Delhi Superstarz's tight bowling in the final two overs, which saw Kuldip Yadav remove Krish Yadav for 106 off 68 and Raghav Singh take wickets of Anmol Sharma (2 off 2) and Ekanksh Dobal (7 off 8) in the final over.
