To make sure he is healthy for the forthcoming three-Test series against England, Kane Williamson will not go to India for the third Test in Mumbai.
Instead, a cautious strategy will be employed, with Williamson continuing his recovery from a groin injury in New Zealand before to the first England Test, which begins on November 28 at Hagley Oval.
Although Williamson has made significant progress, the conservative approach will allow him time to fully recover for the England series, according to BLACKCAPS head coach Gary Stead.
"Kane is still showing encouraging signs, but he's not quite ready to fly out and join us," Stead said.
Although there is hope, we believe that the best course of action is for him to remain in New Zealand and concentrate on the last aspects of his recovery so that he is ready for England.
"Being cautious now will ensure he is ready for the first Test in Christchurch, as the England series is still a month away."
Friday marks the start of the BLACKCAPS' third Test match against India in Mumbai.
