Lendl Simmons’ Century and Ravi Rampaul’s Brilliance Seal the Win
West Indies Masters delivered a powerful all-round performance to defeat South Africa Masters by 29 runs in the 14th match of the International Masters League T20 2025. A breathtaking century from Lendl Simmons, coupled with Ravi Rampaul’s four-wicket haul, ensured a dominant win for the Caribbean side at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.
Simmons Sets the Stage with a Blistering Knock
Opting to bowl first, South Africa Masters initially found success, dismissing Dwayne Smith for a rapid 54 off 10 balls in the opening over. However, what followed was a masterclass from Lendl Simmons. The aggressive right-hander unleashed a spectacular knock of 108 off just 59 deliveries, smashing nine fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 183.05.
Supporting him was captain Brian Lara, who chipped in with a composed 29 off 34 balls, providing stability after early hiccups. Chadwick Walton’s unbeaten 38 off 12 in the final overs further propelled West Indies to a daunting total of 200/5. Garnett Kruger was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa Masters, claiming two crucial wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate.
South Africa Masters Falter Despite Kallis' Resistance
Chasing 201, South Africa Masters needed a fiery start, but Sulieman Benn and Ravi Rampaul struck early, sending back Richard Levi and Hashim Amla inside five overs. Jacques Kallis, the South African veteran, showed resilience with a well-paced 45 off 36, but lacked support from the other end. Jacques Rudolph played an aggressive 39 off 34, briefly keeping hopes alive.
However, Rampaul’s fiery spell derailed South Africa’s chase. He dismissed Kallis, Dane Vilas, and Farhaan Behardien in quick succession, triggering a middle-order collapse. With Ryan McLaren’s dismissal at 171, South Africa fell short by 29 runs.
Ravi Rampaul: The Game Changer
West Indies’ veteran pacer Ravi Rampaul was the hero with the ball, finishing with figures of 4/26 in his four overs. His ability to strike at crucial intervals shattered South Africa's momentum and ensured a comfortable victory for the Caribbean side.
A Statement Victory for West Indies Masters
With this commanding win, West Indies Masters strengthened their standing in the International Masters League T20. Their batting firepower, backed by an effective bowling attack, makes them one of the tournament’s strongest contenders. South Africa Masters, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly and address their middle-order inconsistencies to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.
